We've rented numerous vacation homes around the world and Lewisia Lodge has to rank as one of the best. It's a luxury home in a beautiful setting with almost total privacy. There's a huge lawn for kids to play on, direct access to a vast stretch of river, loads of natural beauty, tubes for river floating, an incredibly well-stocked kitchen if you're into gourmet cooking, a wonderful porch complete with string lighting for outside dining, and lots of nooks and crannies for enjoying it all. There's even a screened-in gazebo with a made-up double bed for sleeping down by the river. If I was forced to come up with even a small complaint, I don't think I could. As for the surrounding area, the towns of Winthrop and Twisp are only a short drive away. We chose the location because we were interested in day trips to some nearby swimming holes, which the kids loved, and for easy access to the area's numerous great hikes. Even though forest fire smoke took something away from the hiking, our time at the house more than made up for it. The owners should be commended for providing their guests with so much, from the vast spice cabinet to the tubes for rafting to the many comfortable furnishings that seem to be everywhere you'd want them to be. It was a great experience and we can't wait to return.
