Tucked into 84 private acres of rolling pasture, hardwood forest, and bold creeks, our handcrafted Treehouse Cabin offers a story-book escape in Ashe County, North Carolina. We recently became the stewards of this mountain haven and still welcome guests to the original Farmhouse cabin (VRBO #376235, six years of five-star reviews). The Treehouse perches on its own ridge, giving you an entirely different perspective on the same magical property. The cabin is a 24-by-24-foot post-and-beam studio built with pine milled on site and treasures reclaimed from antique barns and salvage shops. Three stained-glass panels trace the colors of a Blue Ridge sunset, while a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows pulls the forest right inside. Original art and handmade touches abound: an apple-tree-stump vanity, a vintage claw-foot tub perfectly placed beside a picture window for twilight soaks, and a wood stove that glows on cool mountain nights. Reliable Wi-Fi, a well-equipped kitchenette, and hotel-quality linens ensure comfort without sacrificing the off-grid feel. Life on the farm is relaxed and hands-on. Stroll the pastures to greet the chickens, then collect fresh eggs each morning from the Gypsy Chick Inn, our cheerful gypsy-wagon coop. Wander miles of marked trails through meadows and along the creek, lounge in a hammock next to the 4 ponds beneath towering poplars. Do not miss the 13-acre summit meadow at the very top of the property. A short hike—or easy drive—leads to a panoramic perch with breathtaking views of Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Rogers, and rolling waves of Blue Ridge peaks. Linger at the hilltop firepit for sunset or stargazing; guests say it is the highlight of their stay. A centerpiece of the farm is our stunning barn, rebuilt in 2013 after a tragic fire. Inside you will find Steve Willingham’s large-scale mountain artwork displayed in a light-filled studio. The barn also doubles as an event venue for weddings, family reunions, and celebrations, with rental rates scaled to guest count and a convenient restroom added in 2021\. Even if you are not planning an event, we invite Treehouse guests to drop by and enjoy the art. Our family of four has stayed at many different vacation rentals—we love to explore new places—and the Treehouse on Little Peak Creek farm is the one that we've all enjoyed most unanimously. The cabin itself is very cozy and had everything we needed for a week-long winter stay. The decor is beautiful and the cabin blends in wonderfully with its surroundings. The property is amazing—great hikes and striking views. Perfect for getting off the grid, getting some fresh air, relaxing, and recharging.And Ken was second to none as a host. He and his family provided us delicious fresh eggs from the chickens on the property (which the kids enjoyed visiting), and gave us an education on the bees he keeps, even providing my daughter with a beekeeping suit so that she could participate in the inspection. Ken checked in regularly to make sure everything was going well, and even provided some recommendations on events that were happening nearby during our visit.If you're considering a stay here, don't hesitate! When we arrived the treehouse was warm and cozy with holiday music playing softly in the background with a cinnamon bun and dog treat waiting for us on the counter. The home was decorated beautifully for Christmas and every bit of comfort was there if needed. The home was well stocked with anything you could need. The beds were so comfy and even had adjustable heaters for each person! The 83 acres of land were breathtaking and made you feel so relaxed just taking in the beautiful scenery. We visited West Jefferson and Lansing to shop and eat and enjoy drinks at the Old Barn Winery, Molley Chompers and a few of the local restaurants and breweries. I highly recommend staying at any of the properties here on there land. We will definitely be back in the spring to explore more!! Tucked away on 84 acres the treehouse is a perfect mix of rustic charm and modern convenience. It was super clean and equipped with everything we need for a perfect anniversary weekend. Enjoyed our morning coffee on the back deck and loved making s’mores on the bonfire on the chilly mountain evenings. The hosts were amazing and super responsive to our inquires. The treehouse setting is a magical place, resembling a storybook fairytale house. The farm and trails are huge bonus to the stunning views from the summit where you can build your own campfire to watch the sunset over the mountains and see the night sky come to life with stars as far as the eye can see. The treehouse interior is super cozy and well furnished for short or long stay. The place and property looked beautiful from the pictures, sometimes that can be deceiving, however I was absolutely blown away. The photos don’t do it justice. I would like to start out by saying the hosts (Ken & Courtney) were very welcoming and thoughtful, that’s very apparent from the moment to you step into the treehouse. The property is absolutely breathtaking and so very peaceful. My favorite rental I have ever stayed in BY FAR. I really could go on and on about this rental but it would be useless because nothing I can write would do it justice. 10/10 recommend. You’ll leave with your battery recharged and heart full of love. Also, an enriching experience for your fur babies. I’ve ever seen mine happier! I’ve been delayed in reviewing our stay at the Tree House because in my mind, we’re still there! Talk about relaxing, a true getaway, even though we were active from sun up to sun down. Everything about our stay was perfect. Ken was the ultimate communicator, so friendly, accommodating, and available for any questions. He and his wife, plus their children, greeted us upon arrival and during our stay and even shared her homemade bread! The area is beautiful, 84 acres that felt like it was all ours. We brought our two small, apartment dwelling dogs with us and they’ve never been happier. The pictures of the property give a really accurate depiction of the property, but nothing compares to being there! We’ve gushed over the Tree House to anyone who will listen and are planning to go back again. Thanks again, Ken!
