About this property

Coach House, Bantham, South Devon

  • The Coach House is a stunning 2 bedroomed converted barn nestled in the valley, alongside the stream, only a short distance from Bantham Beach, South Devon. Sleeping 4/5, and being newly furnished throughout, is ideal for families or couples. The Coach House has a small garden with BBQ and picnic table which is set within larger communal grounds. Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape in its secluded location only a short distance from glorious beaches and coastal walks.

Beautiful Bantham beach is lovingly described as a tiny jewel along this stretch of stunning coastline. The sapphire blue sea and golden sands make this an unforgettable holiday destination. The waves attract surfers from all around the world but if you prefer a more relaxing stint on the water, Bantham Surf Academy will helpfully provide you with paddleboards, kayaks, wetsuits and all the information you need. Instructors are available to take you out in groups or one-one sessions if you fancy some extra tuition.

Just minutes from here is the pretty harbour, where you can while away the hours crabbing, sailing or just watching the boats go by.
The Gastrobuses are a regular summer feature on the beach. Gourmet burgers, Devon ice-cream and amazing sandwiches are readily available all through the summer. Throw in some regular pizza nights with some live music and you’ve got yourself the perfect evening.

If walking is more your thing, The South West Coast Path runs right past Bantham – A ferry is available to take you across the River Avon (Not available all year round) and nature lovers may just glimpse Kingfishers, Housemartins and Guillemots in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Look towards the shoreline and occasionally they’ll be a shy seal or even a playful dolphin among the rocks.

The village itself is host to a fantastic pub/restaurant – The Sloop Inn. Here you can find delicious freshly cooked meals, an ever-changing selection of creative daily specials using some of the freshest fish, meat and game and the finest local produce Devon has to offer. Head up to the village shop which stocks a great range of groceries, newspapers, freshly baked bread and pastries, as well as all your holiday essential including wetsuits, bodyboards and buckets & spades. Its beautiful terrace cafe produces a spectacular Devon Cream Tea which you can sample whilst overlooking the estuary and debating the age-old question; Jam or Cream first?

    Out and About
If you want to venture further afield, Kingsbridge and Salcombe are only a few miles away and the historic Tudor town of Totnes just slightly further.
Woodlands Adventure Theme Park, South Devon Chilli Farm, Pennywell Farm and Kent’s Cavern are all nearby days out, particularly good for little ones. And if you fancy a change from the coast, you can head inland to stunning Dartmoor National Park with it’s magnificent Tors and wild ponies, only a short drive away.

Step into a world of enchantment in this captivating retreat that accommodates up to 5 guests (if Z bed is used). The master bedroom, adorned with a dreamy queen size bed, and the twin single room invite you to embrace the tranquility of your surroundings. Unwind in the intimate lounge, where plush seating beckons, and a wood fire burner flickers in harmony with the glow of the television.

The heart of the cottage reveals an open-plan dining area and kitchen, a haven of culinary delights equipped with standard utensils, a fan oven, hob & extractor fan, under-counter fridge and 3 drawer freezer, microwave, kettle, and toaster. The dining table, set for up to 6 guests, becomes a focal point of shared moments. French doors open gracefully to reveal the front garden, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces for a romantic escape.

Nestled within 2 acres of lightly wooded grounds, this traditional stone cottage is a mere breath away from the historic smuggling village of Bantham. Immerse yourself in the charm of the village's pub, explore the fine sandy beach, and embark on coastal walks that whisper tales of bygone eras. Buckland Park, a sanctuary for birds and wildlife, cradles this haven, offering a serenade of nature's symphony—a perfect refuge for couples seeking to unravel the mysteries of the South Hams coastline and countryside.

The accommodation preserves its original character with wooden floorboards, sloping ceilings, and exposed timbers, inviting you to traverse through time. Parking for two cars awaits, ensuring a seamless arrival.

Ascend the stairs to discover the two bedrooms and a bathroom adorned with a standard-size bath, an electric over shower unit, sink, and toilet—a sanctuary within a sanctuary. With a perfect blend of modern comforts and timeless allure, this cottage is a romantic rendezvous, inviting you to script your own love story amidst its charming embrace.

The Coach House is an ideal base to explore the beautiful South Hams area.
