There used to be hippos in the water around it, but none now. Not a bad thing as they are pretty dangerous animals. Still lots of little monkeys. It is a good stopping off place on the journey between Nairobi and Mombasa, close to Makindo, an interesting ethnic melting pot of a town. There is presently no clear sign for the entrance to the hotel. Look for the petrol station on the west side of the main Nairobi-Mombasa highway and the entrance is immediately to the north. It is quiet and located in very nice gardening with lots of birds resting too, I guess. The spacious rooms make you just feel light and ready to take a moment to hold still. Typical Kenyan friendliness. Its not a 5 star hotel, but some great Kenyan inheritage feeling. This hotel is incredibly disappointing, the staff at the front desk were very rude, couldn't speak clearly and had absolutely no idea what they were doing and have no customer service skills. The man serving in the restaurant, and the staff taking our bags to the room were good. The room had lots of dead ants everywhere. The bathroom does not have a door - no privacy. The pool area was dirty and messy.
