Literally a day before we decided to hop in the car and drive out to South Dakota from Illinois to see the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, and the Wind Cave National Park. We chose this property do the the view of Mt. Rushmore off the back deck as well as the modern look on the inside We made the trip at the right time as there were very few tourists and the weather was low 70s everyday. Central location to everything we wanted to see and do. Mike and Lisa were very nice and accommodating. They allowed us to hike on their property. Offered us eggs from their sweet chickens. My husband and I have stayed at numerous places and this one is the best places we’ve ever stayed at. Lisa and her husband have thought of everything you could possibly need or want. The place is beautiful and decorated so nice. The bed and linens are wonderful. The view on the back porch for morning coffee and breakfast are so peaceful. The cabin is SPECTACULAR looking from a ridge to Mt. Rushmore in the distance. We sat on the deck and watched sunrise hit the monument and the illumination at night. We've stayed in several VRBOs. Clean, attractive, surrounded by trees, easy to find. There is a nice balcony with a view of the far-away Mt Rushmore. The hosts were welcoming, informative, and responsive, and live next door. We had lots of privacy. The apartment is accessible via an outdoor staircase. My only tiny complaint is that I wish the toilet had a door for privacy.
