The master bedroom was spacious but the master closet was locked so there was no place to hang up nicer clothes but there was a little room in the second bedroom closet to hang up clothes. The second bedroom had a nice bed but it was pretty tight for the room size. The bathrooms were small but functional. The hot tub looked nice but we couldn’t use it at all due to the chemicals being too strong. Loved the location and we would stay there again. ##### Catherine W. We could tell the owner’s family has enjoyed the property, which provides a certain warmth. Owners must be short of stature. Low toilets and mirrors (at 5’9” I could not see my entire face w/o squatting a bit). No usable closet in MBR. Wild life in the canal-including a manatee! Plenty of towels for bath and beach. Everyone we met was friendly at Key Colony. Very quiet. Owner was quick to respond to inquiries. Hot tub was quite clean. Everything as was advertised. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all one big open room with a nice television and plenty of seating. Kitchen is fully equipped as we took advantage of that and the propane grill. It was nice to be able to cook for yourself and not eat out all the time. The master bedroom was comfortable. Bathrooms were just that. Bathrooms. Plenty of water pressure. Our favorite part of the house was back deck. You have access to the canal. We had manatees visit us on a couple of days. Sun shines on you all day if you enjoy sun bathing. There is a tiki hut out back to get in the shade when needed. There are fans to help cool you. We never got in the hot tub, but the water seemed to be clean. Cabana Beach Club is a short walk. Sunset Park is an even shorter walk. The locals visit there every night and sing a song about Marathon. Very cute. Evelyn, our host, was easy to reach when needed. We really enjoyed our stay. I like to cook on my vacations so this kitchen was a wonderful delight. It had a big living room and the back area was really nice. The tiki hut had lights all around the top so you could sit there at night and visit. We did this, eating our dinner on the last night we were there. Both bedrooms had lots of room and plenty of storage area if you were staying a long period of time. The bathrooms were small, but we had two of them for three people, so it worked out good. Another thing I really liked was the Cabana Club which I walked to each day. If you stay at a property on Key Colony that are members of the Cabana Club, you can go to the pool as much as you want. They have a food menu and alcohol drinks. The only issue we had was a light that was out on the carport and we couldn't see when we came in the first night. We also couldn't see very well when we washed towels at night, because the laundry was on the carport. I'm sure it got fixed after we left, because I informed Evelyn and she was very quick to respond. I would definitely stay there again, so thank you, Evelyn for letting us stay there for the three nights. We had a great time! ##### Victoria S. When we entered the house, we first noticed how clean it looked and smelled. A to the cleaning crew! The canal view was great, we even had manatees visit us a few times. The accommodations were good, with a couple of exceptions. I will say that the host was spot on with regard to communication. So now the few things that were not quite up to par or as advertised. 1\. The jacuzzi was not working. The hot tub sold me on picking this place. I had visions of the wife and I sitting in the hot tub, on the canal, a bottle of wine, the sunset; you get my point. The host said she was not aware it was broken. 2\. The only light that worked in the guest bedroom was in the closet. I am a pretty smart person and I could not figure out how to turn on the fan light or the nightstand lights. Not a big deal but a deal none the less. Lastly, the pictures on the listing were not exactly what you got when you pulled in the driveway. The patio furniture looks new in the listing, its not new by any means. The driveway is overshadowed by a 31' center console boat sitting to the left of the drive. There was also a golf cart in the carport that prevented us from parking there. That does not sound like a big deal, but when you park a black car in the South Florida sun for a couple of hours, it gets very hot, and I do not like sweating in my driver's seat dressed up to go to dinner. Oct 29, 2025 Liked: Check-in, communication Disliked: Cleanliness I was not originally going to write a review of our recent experience at this property as I do not like spreading poor feedback, but I was heartbroken after booking this property solely based on reviews and then having the trouble we had. We arrived around 7:30pm on Saturday night and the second kitchen cupboard door I opened was crawling with cockroach’s. As I checked out the pantry, every shelf was covered in feces. Much to my surprise, I was mortified from go. We contacted the host immediately, who was prompt to respond with her apologies and said she would send out the exterminator the following day, which she did do. In order to get through the night with our two young children, I sent my husband to the store and he brought back cleaning supplies and roach traps, as well as disposable . So our first night I was up until 11pm scrubbing the entire pantry and placing traps in every room. We did not bring in our luggage for fear and just made due.The following day we spent most of the day out of the house. ##### Gina W.
