Designed by renowned architect Alexander Michael, Sky Ridge is an off-grid masterpiece that leaves a small impact on the environment, yet a huge impact on those who stay! The robust black barn is set on 10 acres with stunning views of Kangaroo Valley and its escarpments. It is constructed of steel, glass and polished concrete with an industrial feel throughout - true to the photos. You will totally unwind in style and comfort at Sky Ridge! Where will I be? Sky Ridge is located on the slopes of Mt Scanzi in a secluded location with fantastic, elevated views. It is about a 10 minute drive to the Kangaroo Valley Village, and an easy 5 minute drive to the local golf course. Why choose Sky Ridge? Wow factor. The visible hand of a bold architect. Industrial style. Comfort. Yoga deck. Stunning viewsand much more - echnidas, birds, wallabies and wombats abound. Sky Ridge has it all. If you want to get away and relax in a truly unique home with stunning views, this is the property for you! With luxurious touches, such as Leif bathroom products, it is really set up for up to 4 couples to relax, shoot the breeze over long lunches, sunsets and cosy fires. How is the property laid out? Sky Ridge is set over two levels, with an internal staircase that is just one of the many features of this house. Upstairs - there are four queen bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. Three have showers and toilets, and one has a shower, toilet and free standing bath. Each shower and bath has a full length window that allows you to look across the bush or make opaque, as you wish. Leif bathroom products are supplied for that extra touch if luxury. Please note that the bedrooms have walls that do not extend fully to the ceiling above - as per the photos. Downstairs - the open plan lounge-dining-kitchen area is enhanced with dual fireboxes, cathedral ceiling, stunning artwork and unique lighting. The retractable glass doors or oversized windows on all sides bring the outside in, and allow the air to freely circulate. The fully equipped kitchen is suitable for gourmet cooking or you can request a chef to prepare a meal, to be had on the oversized unique dinning table. There is dishwasher, gas cooktop, washing machine and a Nespresso pod coffee machine. Tea, coffee, and some basic cooking ingredients are supplied. The house is essentially off the grid with solar panels and batteries (with back up trickle feed electricity), rainwater tanks and filter system and a septic tank system. Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix, or Pay TV - will I have it? Sky Ridge has a DVD / Blu-Ray player, sound system and many DVDs but does not offer Wi-Fi. If you bring an internet dongle with you, the best network is generally Telstra. Otherwise, it's best to use your smartphone only during your stay. What about outdoors? Sky Ridge is set on 10 acres of which about 1 acre is cleared with driveway and lawn areas, and the rest is native bush with mature trees and scrub. There is a gas BBQ and a large timber deck suitable for yoga in the early morning or late afternoon. When opened up, the house flows easily and naturally to the outdoor areas of the house. The firepit that overlooks the valley is available for use April to September. Stay warm or keeping cool? Cooling options include opening up the home to catch the breeze, utilising the large ceiling fans in the living area, and all bedrooms have ceiling fans. All windows and glass doors are double-glazed, thus retaining the heat from the abundant sunshine plus the two large JetMaster fireboxes. Firewood is supplied but you may need to get kindling from the bush. All beds have electric blankets and there are plenty of throws. What about sheets, towels and other supplies? Sky Ridge supplies all bed linen and bath towels. Parking for cars, etc? Sky Ridge has ample open air parking on the driveway for 6+ cars. There is a turning circle in the driveway making it easy to enter and exit the property. Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay? Dogs are welcome to stay at Sky Ridge provided they are kept on a leash while they are outside - to protect the local wildlife. Wildlife Please note that due to the nature and location of this property, wildlife may be about including native echnidas, birds, possums, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and occasionally snakes. We do whatever we can to keep the property safe, however we cannot guarantee that you will not see any wildlife at the property. You must book the property knowing that the possibility of encountering wildlife exists, and you must take care during your visit if walking around the property - please. What are the minimum stay rules? Summer Season: 2 nights Easter: 4 nights Long Weekends: 3 nights All other times: 2 nightsÍ Who will I be dealing with during my stay? This property is professionally managed by a dedicated holiday rental agency with offices in Gerringong, Hyams Beach and Bowral. Unfortunately, I had to throw some dishes I pre prepared as the oven was filthy, not just a dirty. No way was I eating anything that came out of that. We ran out of gas and so had no hot water and stove top use. I personally would have appreciated a door to our room.
