A few minutes' walk from Takada Station. There are many restaurants in the neighborhood, and you can find a convenience store right in front of the hotel. The reception staff are polite and helpful. While not flashy or luxurious, it is a very comfortable and clean place to stay.
This hotel is amazing for how inexpensive and central it is to Joetsu. The Art Hotel has 3 of its own restaurants in property, all serving delicious western and Japanese exclusive food. Close to many restaurants and bars. A great Lawson convince store across the street and a 5 min walk to Takada Station.
This is a great place to stay!
I have never had a bad stay at this hotel. I’ve visited this hotel 3 times since July of 2025.
This last stay I had mistakenly hit the button for Single Smoking Room. When I discovered my mistake, the front desk staff quickly sorted me, and didn’t charge extra for a double room Non Smoking!
The restaurants here are also delicious!

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
I used this hotel as nothing more than a place to store my bags and crash for the night, oh and take a shower. It did the job no frills, and I’m pretty happy. The staff were very friendly!
That being said, the room I was in could use an update. Everything was well worn and there was age that just can’t be scrubbed away. Fine for me, maybe not everyone.
I made a mistake and booked a women's room, but they were very kind to me. I missed the display on the reservation site, but I wish the site would take measures to prevent such reservation mistakes from happening in the first place.
Everything about my stay worked out beautifully. I really appreciate how great a location it is. Train station is right by the hotel, and hotel is at the center of downtown. It is of walking distance to grocery chains. Beautiful reataurant is available on the first floor.
Joetsu is such a beautiful city very rarely visited by foreigners. Go take a walk around the Takada Castle grounds and see all the variety of Giant Lotus flowers. See the amazing art at the museums. Also learn about Samurai history with Kenshin Uesugi!
