It is within walking distance from a sandy beach, a coastal nature reserve and a great village pub/restaurant, making it a great base for dog walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. Ideal for either a couple, small group of friends or family, Barnwell Cottage offers the opportunity to spend quality time away together in a comfortable cottage in a popular location. Step inside and you'll appreciate the effort the owner has made to make this little cottage as charming as possible, with modern fixtures and fittings and an assortment of pretty vintage finds. It has a king-size bedroom, a double plus the bonus of a single room / day bed; although it is only suitable to sleep four in total - but this allows for more flexible sleeping arrangements. With two spacious shower rooms, a modern kitchen and cosy sitting room this cottage delivers on lots of levels. And when the nights draw in, the cottage comes into its own with a gorgeous wood burning stove to keep you extra warm. During the summer months, the courtyard garden immediately behind the cottage is a little sun-trap, crying out for a morning coffee and croissant, while the separate garden located a few steps across a right of way can accommodate alfresco dining and is fully-enclosed and so secure enough for both children and a dog to play safely. You're spoilt for choice here with walks from your doorstep - to the beach, Hunstanton Victorian seaside resort, nature reserves along the coast path or inland down the Peddars Way path or Courtyard Farm walks. You can even make the most of the excellent regular coastlink bus service which will drop you off just down the lane from Barnwell Cottage. The village pub, The White Horse, serves great home-cooked food and has a garden and children's play area. A few minutes in the car takes you to the village of Thornham with its gastro pubs and eateries – The Yurt, Eric's award-winning fish and chip restaurant and the Thornham Deli – plus independent shops, including Drove Orchards with its farm shop and pick-your-own fruit farm and cider press. Additional Information: One well behaved medium or small dog welcome (small additional charge). Two small dogs may accepted, depending on the breed.The cottage is unable to accommodate large breeds. Pillows and duvets are feather. Children over the age of five are welcome. Towels are not provided at this property. The kitchen and dining area are will equipped and well appointed. The lounge is cosy and upstairs the bedrooms are lovely and we slept very well. In a small cottage there are two very nice bathrooms. This is in quiet location and the neighbours were friendly and ready for a natter. We really enjoyed the garden. We were close to stunning beaches and countryside. We enjoyed the fresh air and lovely walks. A really good holiday was had by all...and that includes Sparky the dog. This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good Nov 25, 2017 #### More storage space needed for visitors Positives: The house was in a good location just off the main road in Holme. Quiet, could walk to the beach, the bus stop was reasonably close. Beds comfortable but the single with iron bars around 3 sides was rather odd. Sofa good but the 2 other chairs were too hard and upright. Clean and pleasantly decorated. Some logs for the fire were provided, but no kindling. Negatives: Main annoyance was that there was not a single empty cupboard in the kitchen in which to put our food. I had to transfer some of the owners' things to the understairs cupboard, which was also full of their stuff. The kitchen lighting is poor as you are working in your own shadow all the time. There is no door to the lobby with the boiler, so you have the noise of the boiler in the kitchen/dining area. Also every horizontal surface in the house had ornaments on it, so again nowhere to put our things. It did feel like it was the owners' house and we were intruding into their space. And who wants to read 32 copies of 'Coast' magazine? But we did get used to the limitations and enjoyed our stay there. The bed is large and comfortable, although a longer duvet would be an advantage in winter. Only criticism: a fair bit of the storage space (cupboards, drawers etc) contains the owner's personal stuff. As we understand, this is because the owners regularly use the cottage themselves. The microwave wasn't working, but Norfolk Hideaways very promptly called in with a replacement. We enjoyed our break.
