Midfeather Cottage, Edale
Summary:
This property is a beautiful, semi-detached barn conversion on a working sheep farm in a peaceful location that sleeps up to four people.
The Space:
This sympathetically restored, semi-detached stone barn is in the delightful hamlet of Ollerbrook only 10 minutes walk from Edale. It is on the owner's working sheep farm and offers a high standard of accommodation that retains many of its original features. The living accommodation is bright and spacious and on open plan, the lovely kitchen is well fitted and both the dining area and comfortable, cosy sitting room has the original beams and the outlook from the windows is stunning. There are two bedrooms, both affording a tranquil atmosphere and the shower room is fresh and bright. Outside there is a lovely patio area with a shared barbecue and garden furniture, and for outside games, a shared paddock. This is a great property for a family holiday all year round.
The Neighborhood:
The lovely High Peaks village of Edale is the start of the Pennine way and liesat the foot of Kinder Scout. It has two pubs, and one of them, The Nags Head, is usually accepted as the start of The Pennine Way walk. With credentials like these it's little wonder that the area attracts so many walkers, and they won't be disappointed. The village has a general store combined with a post office and a Moorland Visitor Centre. Castleton is only four miles away and is a village that has something for everyone, a ruined Norman Castle, Blue John caves and all under the auspicious gaze of Mam Tor, "The Shivering Mountain." All in all the charming village of Edale is a fabulous holiday location.

The property was cozy, calm, and wonderful! There were plenty of walking trails and a great pub just a short walk away. The views of the fields and mountains from the cottage were amazing. The hosts were very friendly and kept the place really nice, including decorations for the holiday season. We hope to stay there again on a future trip! Thanks!
Myself and my 3 best friends stayed at the Midfeather Cottage for 2 nights on 8th-10th November as part of my 27th birthday celebrations. The cottage is gorgeous, converted barn kind of feel to it, surrounded by rolling hills and sheep! The beds were super comfy, the kitchen is great as there's a huge fridge and all the appliances/cutlery etc you could possible need.. allowed us to cook a few feasts and store all the tipples haha :) The host was lovely, she helped us find a route to walk along the ridge visible from the cottage, and gave us recommendations on places to go nearby (as we were lazy and didn't leave the house til about 1pm on the Saturday). We went to Castleton which was just a short drive away, lovely pubs, walks and views. Would highly recommend staying here to friends, especially to anyone my age looking to get away with the girls to soak up the countryside (pretend to be avid walkers), drink wine and eat cheese in peace haha :-)
