Rooms were comfortable, pretty and had everything we needed. We had lots of options for breakfast and it was delicious. The hosts are welcoming and the village is so pretty. Staff good. Food good. No lemon or lime available for G&T but 'beer good' too. Room was not good. It has clearly been very nice but it isn't any more. The facilities are OK, but the room and the shower room both now really need a good 'deep clean' to reach acceptable standards. The visitors book shows comments from 2023 and 2024 that have not been addressed - 'noisy fan in bathroom' is still noisy, 'chipped paint doesn't look nice neither does bathroom damp on walls', there's problem with supply of towels (no bath towel available when we visited), 'lots of cobwebs' (28/08/2024), and 'could do with more staff'. Just two young men ran the business during our stay - one did all the cooking, the other did all front-of-house' jobs. They are both friendly and very hard-working. If you decide to stay please note that rooms are only serviced on request (place a hanger in window to alert staff). The food was good, though a little pretentious, and apart from waiting a while to be served, then discovering we should order at the bar, quite tasty. We reported that the water heater in our room was not working properly on the day we arrived. Nobody seems to know what is going on. When we arrived,we were told to sit outside and a menu would be bought over. Which was immediately forgotten,so I went to the bar ,by which time I had to wait behind other customers to ask for the menu. Food reasonably priced,but not good. The strangest thing,was ,we needed to get away early,and went into breakfast when they opened,so when it came to settling the bill,we were told the manager would not be there till 9.30,so we duly came back then,and the poor chap behind the bar (not the manager)at that time couldn’t seem to be able to process the payment .So he advised calling in by telephone,so we even called in on our way back home that day so we could pay.
