Welcome to Tan-N-Sand, a classic oceanfront cottage made for a relaxing Topsail getaway.

Arrive to plenty of parking and step inside with ease using keyless entry. The open living area welcomes you with coastal charm, comfortable furnishings, and a 70-inch Smart TV for movie nights. Best of all, you can enjoy sweeping ocean views right from the sofa, which also converts into a Queen sleeper for additional guests.

The dining area offers seating for four, with two more spots at the kitchen bar. A well-stocked kitchen makes it simple to prepare your favorite meals, or you can take them outside to the spacious screened-in porch. Spend your afternoons on the swing, soaking in the view, or head out to the sundeck where plenty of seating invites you to unwind. Private steps lead directly to the sand, complete with a Shabumi Beach Shade for your days by the ocean.

When it’s time to rest, you’ll find two bedrooms on the street side of the home—one with a Queen bed and the other with two Twins—plus a full shared bath.

Unfortunately, my experience at this property did not align with the description provided in the listing. The home was advertised as recently renovated, but the condition suggested otherwise.•Mold and odor: The house had a very strong musty/mold smell that seemed to be masked with air fresheners rather than properly addressed. So much so it left me with some breathing issues •Cleanliness and pests: Overall cleanliness was below standard, with visible dirt and grime. We also encountered ants in our food, which was a major concern.•Flooring issues: Several areas of the flooring felt soft and unstable. The section leading from the larger bedroom into the bathroom sank noticeably when stepped on, and at one point caught my shoe and caused me to trip. This felt unsafe and in need of urgent repair.•Accuracy of listing: Given these issues, the description of the property as “recently renovated” was misleading.I believe the property could be a nice rental with attention to deep cleaning, mold remediation, and structural repairs, but in its current state, it does not provide the safe or comfortable experience for guests.

Awesome week!

My husband and I have an incredible time at this spot! Everything was clean to satisfaction, awesome deck area, icy AC units, and the best view. Huge TV was nice on our 1 rainy day. The only issue (which I doubt is even preventable) is our parking area under the house flooding up about a foot and almost getting in the cars. Luckily we saw and were able to move the cars/pay to park across the street. Overall great stay and would definitely recommend

Wrong property in the review

This review is about the location we stayed in, not the one originally booked. The house that we reserved was going to be remodeled during our stay. The agency contacted us and gave us a choice of 3 other houses that were available and asked if we would mind switching to one of them. We did and were very happy with our choice.

Small but great location

My wife and I stayed the week of sept 24 2021. The cottage is small,2 BR street side with bath in between and 1 room oceanfront that is kitchen dining and living room. There is a great 5'x24" screened porch oceanfront and a 5 x 24 sundeck with chairs oceanfront. You only go down 5 steps and are on the beach. Perfect for a couple and maybe 2 young children. 1 queen bed and 2 singles. The queen is very comfy memory foam but the 2 singles are in need of replacement. No washer or drier. All n all we will stay there again

The location is absolutely perfect. But the bed is like sleeping on a brick. I had to go buy an air mattress. The shower is not for big people. It's so tiny. Other than those two things we had a great experience.

Great location, careless owner

Where to start…a nice feature to add, would be that once your home is cleaned and ready, to get a text from house keeping that it’s available. Yet, we do understand, that check in was not til 4pm! When we arrived, it was clean, but could’ve been better. The fans all have a years worth of of dust built up, and of course fans are a must with the heat and humidity. The carpets had white dog hair all over them, so much that my son who is still crawling, was covered in hair every time I put him down. Another recommendation that I made, is both my crawler and myself were cut by the carpet tack strip because the carpet is so worn down connecting to the tile in the kitchen. The other recommendation was that the bathroom needs updating! The shower is full of mold, and the vanity is very old. This next part is what we were most upset with because our trip had to be cut short by 2 nights! On day one, we noticed a few bugs in the kitchen, but I just wiped them with Clorox wipes, no worries, I expect bugs! On day two, I informed Lewis Realty and they said they would get someone out there, they were not able to make it til the next morning. The bug guy was awesome! Came in, checked it out, took a sample, as the bugs looked like a mite of some kind, but he wasn’t sure what it was exactly, so he didn’t want to start spraying random chemicals which we appreciated! While we were waiting on the call back as to what the mite was to be treated, we discovered that there was an infestation of these mites all around the house! Our clothes were all covered with these mites swarming them! The main areas were the kitchen, living room, master bedroom, and bathroom! They were even all over our toothbrushes and shampoo bottles!! *YUCK* my husband decided to go under the house to investigate with the bug exterminator, and they found open areas in the carport which clearly had been invaded by birds!! We then noticed the beautiful birds chirping we had been hearing were in the walls and under the flooring! We called Lewis Realty to inform them of the infestation, and they were BEYOND helpful! They offered to launder all our infested clothes and brought supplies to contain the other belongings that couldn’t be laundered. They then setup a conference call with the home owners. The outcome of the call, is that we had to leave by that next morning, so they could treat the house. Originally the owners only wanted to refund us one night, but thankfully Lewis got us a 2 day refund.

The description of the property is incredible. In actuality, the property needs to be updated. I recommend replacement of the refrigerator as there is rust on the side and top of the appliance. The shower, toilet, and fairly small TV really should be upgraded as well. Access to WIFI was not available until Monday following our arrival on Saturday. The information specific to the password was not accurate. Safety issue at base of stairs with portion of lower stair missing with nails visible. Screen door to porch needs repair/replacement as bugs are able to easily enter above and below the screen door. Frankly, given the descriptives of the property, our expectation was very different then what we experienced.
