The hotel was well located within a 2 min walk from the centre of town which made an evening walk around the old sights very enjoyable. The parking was off site but very close by. The morning staff that served us at breakfast were very friendly and helpful even making a special sausage for our dog as a treat ! Jos and Lindsay are lovely and run a very nice business. We had two rooms, wife and I and Daughter and Partner. We arrived soaking wet after a walk on Mam Tor. Checked in, had a laugh with the owners, parking was easy, rooms are excellent and clean, food good, beers good. Being born and raised in Derbyshire and an out doors person who spent years in the peaks before heading to that ‘great land down under’, I had somehow missed Hayfield. Lovely village and we enjoyed a clear day hiking after the rain, onto the moors straight from Hayfield. Had an absolutely fantastic stay at The George!! I booked a long weekend for myself and my brother to do some hiking. Hayfield is a beautiful gem of a village, and the hotel is perfectly placed in the Peak District for all the most scenic hikes. You can start Kinder Scout from the hotel itself and it's only a 10/15 minute drive to Edale Valley and Bleaklow. Joss and Lynds have only recently taken over management of the pub/hotel at the end of January. They have such good energy and their enthusiasm for their business and community is truly humbling. Their customer service and hospitality make you feel really welcomed - they're just genuinely lovely people. The atmosphere they've created in the pub is so positive and we spent both nights around the bar having a laugh with Joss/Lynds, staff and the locals. Fantastic old fashioned pub and simply great vibes! Soon to serve food as well so will definitely be back for that! The room was perfect, comfortable beds, clean room with a nice view of the hills. Parking is easy and there's always a few spaces available. Ignore older comments that state parking as an issue as the council have recently changed their rules and you no longer have to input your number plate to park. Overall, I really cannot recommend highly enough and will definitely be telling friends and family to book a stay.
