Heyward House Historic Center Tours and Activities

This is a really Great hotel for the family stay. Very clean and stuff is excellent! ❤️

Stayed for about a week in a King Deluxe Room. Newly remodeled and very clean. Property itself is beautiful and well maintained. Pools are clean and the "adults" only pool is a great option if you don't want children screaming and running around you. Every morning attendants put out fresh towels and cleaned the chairs. Plenty of room also. Fresh cold water always available at the poolside. Typical bar and food at the poolside. Expensive but that's pretty typical. Beds were super comfy and my husband and I never had a bad night's sleep. There is valet parking but also free onsite parking available not too far away. The restaurants inside were nice. Nice breakfast buffet was average price. Property is gate entry only and about a 10-minute drive from a popular beach. The resort is apparently recently renovated- this shows but a few warnings about the new remodel. Lack of space for hanging clothes and bathroom storage, counter space is sorely lacking. Bathroom lighting is fairly good. We had a tub option in our room- shower water pressure was good and multiple shower head options existed. Staff here was beyond friendly and always helpful. Check in was quick and checkout was equally fast. Plenty of areas to sit outside and the patio area has comfy couches to relax and talk. Overall I would stay at Sonesta again. Walk directly to the beach and there is a shuttle available if you don't have a car to go downtown.

The suite was gorgeous and very clean. My only complaint was the changing of suites we rented Friday to Sunday and had to be moved to another 2 bedroom suite on Saturday which wasted a lot of our precious time because we had to worry about when they would call us to move. We were moved to another 2 bedroom suite exactly the same as the one we were in on the same floor. I have to wonder why we had to move. I wasn't told about this room change until I had already booked and paid which another thing I did not like. I understand they usually rent from Saturday to Saturday, but when the rooms are exactly alike and on the same floor I can't understand moving the person who is already in the room. We couldn't really unpack and we had to load up again and cutting into our precious weekend getaway. Had I known ahead of time about the moving I wouldn't have booked a weekend getaway there. The people were nice the property and beach were amazing. Loved the walkways onto the beach. The pool was so clean as were the grounds. Great beds and furniture in the rooms, and lovely clean thick towels. The kitchen was stocked with everything you needed to cook. The only I could see missing were the proper utensils for the nonstick skillets. Without the room moving I would given full marks. I highly recommend if you stay Saturday to Saturday. However, not for a weekend getaway unless things change, loading and unloading again and not being able to unpack did not make for an enjoyable weekend.
