Recently refurbished in 2025, the cottage has been beautifully interior designed to create a warm and welcoming space. Set in a peaceful corner of Porthleven, this charming cottage offers the perfect blend of comfort and style, just a stone's throw from the vibrant harbour. It’s the ideal retreat for those seeking a quiet coastal escape, yet still close enough to enjoy the town's lively atmosphere.  
  
The Space:  
Thoughtfully updated, this cosy hideaway boasts everything you need for a comfortable stay, from sleek modern touches to cosy living areas, ensuring a relaxing and restful break. Step through the main door into the newly added boot room with plenty of storage to stash your beach gear or kick off your walking boots. The warm and inviting living space, where natural light pours in, has comfy sofas and delicate wool throws. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the stunning Cornish coastline. The open-plan space flows into the modern kitchen, which is fully equipped to meet all your culinary needs. Whether you're whipping up a quick breakfast or preparing a hearty dinner, you’ll find everything you need, including an electric hob and oven, Nespresso coffee machine, and a fridge with a water dispenser.   
  
Upstairs, the three bedrooms are finished to a boutique standard, offering a restful haven after a day of adventure. The master bedroom features an ensuite shower room, king-sized bed, ample storage in built-in wardrobes. You’re sure to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep here. The second double bedroom is equally inviting, with high quality linens throughout, while the third bedroom offers versatile options, with a bed that can be set up as either a single or a king, please let us know how you would like this set for your stay. The family bathroom is fitted with a modern walk-in shower.  
  
Essential items like an iron, ironing board and dog bowls can all be found in our boot room. This practical addition ensures the space remains dry and tidy, no matter what the weather is like outside.  
  
In terms of parking, there is one designated space for your vehicle, ensuring you can park with ease while enjoying all that Porthleven has to offer.  
  
This cottage combines all the comforts of home with the beauty of Cornwall’s coastal charm. It’s been interior designed to provide a cosy, dry, and comfortable retreat, where every detail has been thought of to ensure you have an unforgettable stay. Whether you’re relaxing by the fire or exploring the picturesque surroundings, this is the perfect base for your Cornish getaway.

The Neighborhood:  
Porthleven is one of Cornwall's prettiest fishing villages and the most southerly working port in the UK. Come for some of the best food in all of Cornwall - Michael Caines has a restaurant here. Seafood lovers will be in total heaven at The Mussel Shoal, a kiosk on the quay. The real fun part is that diners can book to be taken out to eat on their very own pontoon! In summer, the whole town is taken over by a free three-day food festival where the streets are lined with fragrant stalls and the pubs sprawling with happy punters. In under a 20-minute drive, you will find the wonderful Flora at New Yard restaurant, this is the crème de la crème of Cornish cuisine. Aside from its culinary offering, this picturesque boat-filled harbour is brilliant for nature lovers too. It’s possible to surf at the town’s beaches, but with some of the most testing waves in Cornwall, beginners may like to try the nearby Praa Sands instead. Walkers can enjoy hikes straight from the front door, taking off in either direction along the renowned South West Coast Path. Head one way and you’ll enter the magnificent Lizard Peninsula (which boasts some of the region’s best and quietest beaches). Meanwhile, the other way takes you to Rinsey and onto Praa Sands - which is fabulous all year round. There’s so much to do and see in this corner of Cornwall and we’ve shared more of our local tips and tricks in our Guest Guide - available upon booking.  
  
It's not just restaurants that are in plenty here, you'll find a handful of welcoming pubs within walking distance of the cottage. Head to The Ship for beautiful views and live music or The Harbour Inn for a pint or two on a sunny day. As if that wasn't enough, you can enjoy long rambles along the coastal path from Looe Bar for stunning views of the gnarly Cornish cliffs and stop at Origin Coffee to refuel before browsing the independent galleries, jewellers and art shops that line the harbour. We highly recommend making bookings in advance to avoid disappointment!  
  
From Porthleven you can take the A394 towards Penzance, stopping off at the beaches along the way. Praa Sands is a wide sandy beach perfect for families, but try the more secluded bay of Prussia Cove a little further along down a single track road if you want something quieter. There are also lovely walks along this part of the coast if you have time, such as the route from Perranuthnoe to Cudden Point; around two miles of scenic trail along the clifftops. A busy day is always best finished with food, and locals love heading to New Yard Restaurant for innovative dining in a rustic alfresco setting. Only a 25 minute drive and you are in the popular towns of Carbis Bay and St Ives.  
  
Getting Around:  
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall we would highly recommend bringing a car to make the most of your time here. That said, the cottage is ideally located within a short walk of Porthleven's harbour, shops and restaurants. There is a private parking behind the cottage with space for one vehicle.  
  
Other Things to Note:

Dogs welcome with fee of £20/dog (max 2).

In a fantastic location with parking and easy walk to the harbour or the seafront. I found the cottage really cosy, which was lovely when putting your feet up after a day of walking. Would highly recommend this property for a stay in Porthleven.

Beautifully appointed very comfortable cozy house (with parking!) a short walk from Porthleven Harbour. We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely property, which has everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. We’ll be back.

#### Winter break

The property was tired and could do with an update and some areas were in need of a good clean. The beds were not made up as requested and there was difficulty initially in getting this resolved. This meant that the start of our break was stressful and disappointing. The heating was inadequate in sitting room as one heater did not work and there was no heating in the ensuite bathroom so was unusable in January. We did manage to have an enjoyable stay as Porthleven is beautiful and the cottage was comfortable enough.

#### Long weekend

What a lovely cottage! The decor was superb and very tastefully done. We were a party of 4 adults and there was plenty of room for all with no one getting under each other's feet. The property is located at the top of a very quiet street, with the walk into Porthleven not taking longer than 10 minutes, therefore ideally situated. The decor was beautiful and the cottage very comfortable and clean. We all slept extremely well! Will, the Host, had thought of everything to ensure we had a great stay e.g. coffee pods, washing up liquid etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone. I myself can't wait to return.

Great location (10 mins walk to pebble beach, 5 mins further for sand). Super local to great cafes, town centre and port. Kitchen well stocked and rooms were spacious. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

#### A Lovely Stay in Porthleven

A great little cottage and super location for the centre of Porthleven. Very comfortable with the bonus of car parking. Our dog also enjoyed his stay in this nice cottage. We are happy to give more feedback to the owners if they wished to make this delightful cottage a little more luxurious for future guests. Overall a very lovely and enjoyable time in Rhodes Cottage .
