Hawthorne Cottage National Historic Site Tours and Activities

The site is beautiful and well maintained. The room is clean and nice, stocked with tea and coffee. You also have a mini fridge and microwave in room. Parking is street parking only so I recommend asking for a parking pass early on to ensure you can park in front of the building as it is mainly permit required only parking in the area. less than a block from the main doors is a park with homeless individuals day and night. Although we never had issues with anyone, you do walk past this area or park your vehicle in front or near it. When walking in the main doors there is a strong smell, but once inside your room you can no longer smell it. The staff were quick to respond and provide us with what we needed when asked.

This was our second stay at Leaside Manor. Comfortable beds, well-equipped rooms and friendly staff.

We had a spacious suite , unfortunately it was very dimly lit, and three nights in we found silver fish in two locations in our room. We alerted the manager , and on a 7 night stay was offered a $40 credit without an apology. After voicing my concern that they may have gotten into our suitcases, clothing , etc. His words were it is a dampness bug that usually doesn't climb. I told him we found one while we were sitting on the sofa and two on the kitchen counter which means they definitely climbed and could very well be taken home into our house . We often stay at Sandman properties, but this has left us looking elsewhere in the future. Very disappointing
