When visiting the wreck of the Peter Iredale take time to notice the kaleidoscopic colors of rust and moss.
This is an oft-photographed landmark on the Oregon coast. Located on the Beach at the western edge of Fort Stevens State Park near Hammond, Oregon. It’s a short drive west from Astoria, Oregon and makes for a fantastic photo op. Most of the shots online seem to be afternoon through sunset. I was only able to shoot here at sunrise but I was blown away by the opportunity that presented itself. Sunrise can make for a beautiful shot too! Very cold this morning too. Temps right at freezing. There was frost on some of the sand.

Room was clean did not know shower had no liner but was warm water. Noisy due to kids above. Next time renting up higher so we are noisy one. Haha was nice for price great food lovely staff. Even though said no view still had view and was wonderful to watch the storms pass.

great location, staff are super friendly, there are activities for kids, pool and sauna, there are exclusive times for adult pool use, beer tasting, free cookies, ice cream socials, bon fire…. we had an excellent time. There restaurant has a great view of Haystack Rock !!!
