"Very comfortable stay, staff were really friendly and helpful (especially when our Sat Nav took us to the wrong village) and the breakfast was delicious. Parking was ample and the whole check in process was super. The team were very flexible and helpful when we notified them that we would not be able to arrive by latest check in time and were accommodating of our arrival time."

"Very friendly staff and room was in a very good and clean condition. One has to remember that it is above/adjacent to a pub/restaurant and so there some minor issues with outside lights and sounds due the the kitchen fan (which was turned off once the kitchen closed for the night). Also note that the place has no on-site parking but the car park opposite offers space at £4 per day. Well served, British breakfast. Overall, a lovely experience."

"Extremely disappointed - spa and pool closed due to building work, not clearly stated on Expedia. Specifically booked for these facilities after a very long drive. Hotel needed updating and didn’t feel immaculately clean. Front desk was a mess. Paid £144 for one night in a room that felt like a Premier Inn room with a fridge added. Stains on carpet, no pictures or nice touches apart from robes and slippers. Sofabed looked tired and old. Cooked breakfast was good but continental had only mandarin segments - no other fruit and no choice of cereals or pasties. Dining room was bland and dark with no atmosphere - we asked to put music on as it was deathly quiet. Best thing was free parking in a lovely historic town and the shoe shop opposite which was a Sketchers outlet selling end of line with at least 50% discount. Thai restaurant a few doors down from hotel was excellent with outstanding food. Wouldn’t stay again. "

"Friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. Comfortable rooms with good ensuite facilities at a great price. Restaurant has excellent dishes at good prices and the bar serves a good range of drinks again at good prices. A Continental Breakfast is included and there is no cooked breakfast option. The only drawback is the lack of a lift and one or two floors are a bit unveven but to be expected at over 400 years old. "
