I had a nice short stay here. It was a bit cold at night so need plenty of blankets. Also, was a bit hard to find in the Medina. but I enjoyed it overall.

Good budget riad in medina
The owners were gracious and wonderful. Hot water every day (not so at some other places I've stayed). Towel & toilet paper provided, bring your own soap. Area to hang dry clothes on roof. A bit tricky to find the first time, but after that no problem. 2 min walk to Bab R'cif & bus stop, 5 min walk to souk. Would stay here again.

Morocco is beautiful but not the hotel
Morocco is a very beautiful country and the people are even nicer and very welcoming. If u have not visited this part of the world then this MUST be ur next destination. After haggling the taxi fare to 120 dirham's(less than a tenner)we headed to our hotel in the old Madinah part of fez. The taxi driver knew exactly where it was even though it was confusing to say the least with the windeing cobbled alleys. Taxi driver pointed uphill. We were a little unnerved as it was late and dark but after a few minutes uphill walk we surprisingly managed to find our riad tuckedaway in a corner. We had not stayed in a road b4 so didn't know what to expect but we were disapointed. The rooms were small and dark and an unpleasant odour. After a lot of arguing we managed to get rooms without the terrible smell. We could not talk as we were repeatedly told it was disturbing the sleep of others even though it was only 9pm. The breakfast was a couple of pieces of bread and bits n pieces withtea and coffee. I wouldn't really call it breakfast. Apart from the hotel everything is beautiful. Once we found our way through the cobbled alleyways to the main Madinah we were very happy. Getting around in the city by taxi is cheap under 20 dirham for 90% of journeys(less than £2) but make SURE u only use metered taxis otherwise u will pay a LOT more. The old Madinah is full of nice n colourful bazaars. This is where the locals shop so prices are very reasonable. Conclusion always stay in a minimum of 3*

Located on a hill a way from the main road
Bed, sheets, pellows were dirty. The room were not newly decorated and furnished as described. No tv or cable channels. No toiletries in bathroom as described. No restaurant in the hotel as described as they make the food in the kitchen and then serve it on the intrance table. Next door workers start work at 8.00 am. In the first 2 days we were staying in a room where they gave us where they turned the air conditioning off from 10.30am to 5.30 pm. then we were given another room in the second hotel riyad doha with ok a/c but nothing else. Infact i got more bites from bugs and flies (: No window and no tv buy at least the toilet has a door. the door of that room was broken and i fixed it with some screws. I was given a lock to lock the door when we go out but it was very weak i used to take my important things with me when i am out

Dirty hostel vibe
The riad is okay and staff are quite friendly but a bit weird and it wasn't in great condition (mouldy bathroom) or location. Terrace was good though

Especially helpful host.
Until you have been to the medina in Fes you have no idea how tricky it can be to find anywhere. I phoned Youssef before we left for Fes on the bus. He told us to get a taxi from the bus station in Fes to bab Rcif, 20 dh, then to get the taxi driver to call him once we had reached it. Youssef was there within 3 mins, walked us to the hotel and made us tea. Easy! He also organized for us to help the cook make our deliciousMoroccan dinner, a cheap cooking lesson indeed, and found a reliable guide for us for the next day. All in all a great time and a great experience with very little stress.

Average Riad in Fes
We arrived late in Fes and they put us in a different Riad in the same neighborhood, Riad Walid Yazid. They said it was their "sister" Riad and it was comfortable. We had no objections. We settled in and then were told they were going to move us to another "sister" Riad. I objected and told them we have been traveling for days and just wanted to rest. When we returned from the Souk they had gone into our "locked" rooms and moved us. Then demanded that we pay them for moving us and for our meals which were included in the price. Fortunately I speak Arabic and was able to tell them it was inappropriate. Our stay in the actual Riad Doha was fine, the Air Conditioner didn't work and the shower wouldn't drain so we had a pool of water in the bathroom, but I expect these things in Morocco. The "helpers" will try to rip you off and say you owe them for this or that. Just refuse and tell them you will write a bad review, it usually changes their attitude quickly.
