About this property
Firehouse Library Apartment
Welcome to our one-of-a-kind Library Firehouse apartment located in the heart of Elizabethtown! Our apartment is filled with unique details and historic significance to our town. What was once the town fire house, a dance studio, an art gallery and many more important pillars to the people in our community now sits as a cozy, spacious apartment for travelers & visitors to enjoy.
Experience As you enter the library apartment you'll notice the high ceilings and spacious rooms. A cozy gas fireplace accents the spacious kitchen and dining room, rounded walls lead you down the apartment corridor and 11 foot pocket doors greet you as you are welcomed into our most-loved room, the Library Room. The Library room is full of books and cozy spaces to read, play games, do puzzles, paint, watch TV or just relax and hang out. Another favorite in this charming space is the heated bathroom floor in one of the bathrooms, the electric fireplace in the master bedroom and the natural light that comes in from the large windows.
Location We love Elizabethtown and this location. The apartment itself spans the upstairs of our historic building and the neighbors below are a well-loved therapeutic massage & skincare studio, an upscale consignment boutique & a Furniture/Decor shop! The Building is right on Market street and within walking distance to numerous cafe's, restaurants, breweries, shops & parks. There are many hiking, walking and biking trails within 10-20mins from our location and we sit beautifully in the middle of Lancaster and Harrisburg cities if you want to take a day trip into the city. Hershey Park is only 23 minutes from our apartment. So whether you seek a quaint small town feel, the outdoor adventure, the stay cozy/stay-in experience and/or the city day trip , our location is poised perfectly to accommodate many guest's visions.

A fantastic find! It was awesome to be able to have our family together in such a nicely updated and yet historic house. Many extras and everything just as described, but even better!
Amazing place and they had all of the amenities you would need! The place was clean and a readers dream getaway. Cute living area with a library loft and lots of little reading nooks. Highly recommended!
Great property to stay with kids and friends, lots of activities provided by host. Unique space full of surprises. Thank you for letting us experience staying inside a firehouse!!
We started at this property to work a local sporting event. We did not have time for vacation, but the property was a nice, clean place to relax after a long day.
Wonderful weekend preparing for a family wedding! Perfect location in a quaint town full of adorable shops and eateries:)The firehouse was chock full of authentic history and positive energy.
This ‘apartment’ home is beautiful and cozy! Lots of places to curl up with a book and relax. During our visit, we were lucky that some Christmas decor was up. It simply added to the magic of the home. We will definitely staying here again!
Beyond perfect spot! Apartment was beautifully eclectic and very well cared for! The location is in a quaint setting within walking distance to locally-owned businesses! The host was responsive and ensured all our needs were addressed! It was perfect!
From the moment we walked into this beautiful home we knew it was just the place for us! The location for the wedding venue, Stone Gable Estates, was in close proximity to the event.
The Firehouse is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the excellent accommodations. Anything you need for a trip is provided at this lovely residence.
My family and i had a lovely stay at this unique property. There are so many little nooks and crannies to curl up with a book. Also, the communication was excellent and punctual. For example, it snowed while we were visiting and I expressed concerns re someone falling and it was promptly handled. .aabout someone
We had an amazing weekend staying at this beautifully converted firehouse! The apartment was incredibly spacious, thoughtfully designed, and full of character. The high ceilings and historic charm made it a truly unique experience, while the modern amenities ensured a comfortable stay. The location was perfect—just a short walk to great shops & restaurants. And a short drive to The Star Barn for the family wedding event we were attending. A special shoutout to our host, Carissa! She was so welcoming and helpful, making our first visit to Elizabethtown even more memorable.Highly recommend this one-of-a-kind stay!
I stayed here for two nights with my wife and two daughters, 10 and 12. This may have been my favorite VRBO I've stayed in. The library is unique and well stocked with books and family games. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, and there are good places to eat (and drink, if you're so inclined) within easy walking distance. Thumbs up all around.
The Firehouse Library was just spectacular. The place was very clean, very spacious, beautifully & creatively decorated, well-stocked, and just fun. We could have stayed for a week just exploring all the books, DVDs, games and artwork. It was perfectly located for us since we were doing things in Strasburg (Sight & Sound Theater) and Hershey. The welcome binder gave us plenty of great dining choices (definitely try the Whisk Cafe for brekky) and info about the area. The hosts were terrific. We will definitely be back!
This property is absolutely beautiful! My family and I stayed here because it was close to a wedding venue that we were attending. I loved the location. Market Street had the cutest shops that were all within walking distance. The inside of the condo had something for everyone in our party to enjoy. Yoga mats, a rope climb for kids, an artist painting corner with easel and paints and so much more!. Tons of board games and of course, books galore! we WILL be coming back again!
Amazing historic apartment perfect for literary nerds
Words cat do justice to how much my family enjoyed this rental. The library was more extensive than expected. Our entire family enjoyed exploring the titles, finding an interesting one, and then settling into one of the amazing reading books located all over the apartment. There were so many special details that made the rental a cut above every other Vrbo we’ve visited—sound machines in the rooms, blackout curtains, a fully-stocked coffee station, an artist’s corner in the library loft, and so much more. We definitely plan to book it again for a longer stay to explore the local sights.
More character than in the photos, best stocked vrbo we've been in. Very relaxing beginning and end spot for each day touring PA. The shops and shop staff along the street were kind and fun. The area was very safe and clean.
The apartment had plenty of unique nooks for people to have solitude if desired. The kids loved exploring and painting. We always had a puzzle going on the table we could work on while waiting for others to awaken.
It was fairly simple to travel from here to other destinations. We went to Gettysburg, Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Hershey, Lititz and Lancaster from here. Plus 2 days hanging out in E town.
We would book this place again in a heartbeat!
This was a very beautiful, large, unique property. It was very clean, well-cared for and well-equipped. As others have noted, it is a very old building. So you will have things like creaky floors, drafty windows, and uneven heating throughout. However, the beauty and grandness made up for all of that. The property is very large with the kitchen, dining room and 2 smaller bedrooms on one side and then a long hallway leading to the living room/library and main bedroom. The living room area/library is very impressive with plenty of room to spread out. The host was very helpful in allowing us to check-in a little early since we had a wedding rehearsal and dinner to attend our first night. We appreciated the accommodation. The owners do request that you remove your shoes when entering the property. My husband wishes he had known that before we came so he could have brought bedroom slippers. I would have liked a little timelier communication before the stay. But overall, the property was very unique and beautiful, and a very nice experience.
