There was only ONE other person around while I was at this waterfall and I got him in the photo... You might need to zoom in to see him, lol This is the ultimate gem of the Westfjords!!! and pretty much the main reason I went into the Westfjords (being a waterfall fanatic). The roads in the Westfjords are not for the faint hearted, and I was pretty stressed driving here... But once I arrived it was all worth it! AMAZING!!! Possibly the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland, but that's a tall order as they are all so beautiful and unique in there own way. The hike (#hiking) up to it isn't too bad, but a lot maybe 20min each way, more if you take a million pictures like I do. There are numerous smaller waterfalls on your way up, all with names, to check out and photograph. This view of the Atlantic ocean opposite to the waterfalls is just as serene as the waterfalls itself. (86 reviews) This is a unique property in the center of a small fishing village on the main street. The central establishment is a refurbished building with the restaurant below. There are other buildings adjacent. The restaurant and rooms were very comfortable and well furnished. It was clean, warm and decorated. Staff were fantastic; the reception, the chef and the person running breakfast were great. We had a very enjoyable stay!!!
