Enjoy stunning views of the Kalamazoo river from nearly every room in the house across all three floors. Just a short walk to downtownk Douglas and a few minute drive to Saugatuck or Lake Michigan. This beautifully appointed home has something for everyone. INSIDE THE HOME Walk inside and go straight to the wall of windows where you can enjoy the view. This recently remodeled home perched high atop a bluff has plenty of room for everyone. The first floor has an open concept with a well-stocked kitchen, dining room (with room for 12 at the extendable table, and 5 at the bar), living room with gas fireplace, sunroom and half bath. Sip your coffee in the sunroom or on the deck every morning. Cozy up in the den at night to read a book or watch some TV. The first floor also includes a bedroom with a pine post king bed and an accessible bathroom with handrails. Head downstairs to the lower-level and enjoy the summer camp vibe with board games, shuffleboard, and a 75” TV. Walk outside to enjoy the new 6-person hot tub, play some games in the yard or listen to the birds. The lower-level main room includes an XL twin bed and a separate bedroom with two queen beds as well as a full bathroom. Upstairs you will find three bedrooms and two full bathrooms (one with a shower and one with a bathtub). The front room has an two XL twin beds and a couple foldaway pack and play baby/toddler beds in the closet. The back two rooms both have king beds and beautiful views of the water. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, utensils, coffee maker, Keurig, blender, and all the basics to cook and eat in the home. If you need to check emails, the home also has three desks and high speed internet. SLEEPING This vacation rental sleeps 13 guests (plus two pack n play cribs). Primary bedroom – King (upstairs) Bedroom #2 – King (upstairs) Bedroom #3 – Two XL Twins and two foldaway toddler beds (upstairs) Bedroom #4 – King (main floor) Bedroom #5 – Two Queens (lower level) Common space – XL Twin (lower level) OUTDOOR SPACE There are two decks off the sunroom. Cook your meals on the new gas grill located on the smaller deck. The large deck has a sofa to curl up on as you watch the boats go up and down the Kalamazoo river. The deck has an expandable dining table so you can enjoy your meals out in the perfect Michigan summer temps. Hang out in this space throughout the evening and enjoy watching all the birds. The lower yard features a 6 person hot tub and a hammock, both with incredible river views. Note the hot tub may be unavailable November through May so please ask about availability before booking. Backyard is fenced in with plenty of space for yard games. Front yard also has plenty of place for kids to play as you watch from the rocking chairs on the veranda. Parking: Two garage parking spaces are available along with room to park three additional cars in the driveway. THE LOCATION Close enough to walk to downtown Douglas and plenty of privacy with only a few houses nearby. Just down the street you are able to rent kayaks if you want to enjoy the river. Or keep going and stroll through the galleries of quaint Douglas. You can see the main entrance to Saugatuck from your windows so it’s just a three minute drive to the shops and restaurants there. I would stay again without thinking twice.We chose the house for the layout, and it delivered. The kitchen opens into the living area, so the person cooking is still part of everything. It made the whole place feel easy and social.The downstairs was perfect for the kids. It kept the noise contained and gave the cousins a real sleepover setup with two queen beds. They loved it.My pregnant sister stayed on the main floor. The king guest room with the en suite bath was exactly what she needed. Quiet, comfortable, and close to everything.Upstairs was just as perfect. Three bedrooms, all well done, all comfortable. The house felt luxurious and thoughtful everywhere, not just in the obvious places.The hosts were thoughtful in every way. They decorated the house for Christmas, with two trees, one on the main floor and one downstairs, Christmas lights outside. It made the place feel warm the minute we walked in.It was also immaculately clean. My standards are high, and theirs are too. The corners were clean. The back of the toilet was clean. That kind of clean is rare.There was no lack of supplies. Everything we needed was there, and it was quality. Bounty. Charmin. Brita. Reverse osmosis water.The photos don’t do it justice. The house is better in person, and the hosts are the best part. They were always in communication and made the stay feel simple. We felt lucky to have found it. ##### Danielle I. The house was immaculate, beautifully maintained, and incredibly spacious, more than enough room to very comfortably accommodate our group of 14, which included a few small children. It was clear the owners went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect.The home was stocked with absolutely everything we could have possibly needed. The kitchen had every utensil and gadget. There were plenty of essentials, a huge variety of toys and books for kids, and even thoughtful touches like baby gates, high chair, baby monitor, and pack-n-plays. It truly made traveling with little ones so much easier and stress-free.There were multiple comfortable sitting areas throughout the home that made it easy for everyone to gather, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. The indoor fireplace added a warm, cozy touch. The downstairs game room was an absolute hit with both the kids and adults. Whether it was shuffle board, board games, or just unwinding, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The outdoor space was just as fantastic with plenty of room to play and lounge, and a hot tub and grill. The town of Douglas is charming, peaceful, and full of character. We loved exploring local shops, cafes, and beaches. The layout and view (oh the view) magical. We felt so relaxed due to the location. We were provided with lots of recommendations for shopping and food, which was phenomenal. If I could rate it higher I would. My bestie is turning 50 we went there to celebrate her, she is in a clinical trial, and we do not know how many years we have left-it did me and her a world of good to just let it be for one weekend, and this was the best place for that. The pictures really don't do justice to the stunning vista view, open kitchen/living areas, and large comfortable sleeping arrangements. And even more important, hosts Ben and his family went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accommodated. They were there to answer any questions, give advice, and provide for some requests. The house is spacious, comfortable, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. We all enjoyed the beautiful views of the Kalamazoo river from the main level and outdoor decks. There was plenty of room for all nine of us to gather together for a meal or to sit and visit. The location is great - close to downtown Douglas and Saugatuck, but not in a crowded, touristy spot. The main level en suite primary bedroom suite is perfect for anyone with mobility issues. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and is equipped with grab bars -- not always easy to find when searching VRBO. Our three teens spent most of their time at the house downstairs in the spacious basement playing shuffleboard, watching TV, laying in the hammock or soaking in the hot tub. The huge bedroom with two queen beds meant they could stay up late and not disturb any of the adults sleeping upstairs. The three upstairs bedrooms were very clean, peaceful, and comfortable. We were just inland from Saugatuck, Mi. on the Kalamazoo River. Plenty of good restaurants within 10 minutes driving. A day at the beach, exploring , pick fruit, even pickleball courts just around the corner. Our 3 couples of long time friends had plenty of privacy and room to enjoy. Easily walkable to downtown Douglas and amazing views of the water. Stayed with the entire family including grandparents and first floor master was perfect for them including handicap accessible bathroom! Our young children took over the basement and had plenty of room to spread out with a huge bedroom and game area. The upstairs has a perfect infant room with crib and baby monitor.
