Beautiful sandstone cottage in picturesque village setting
Harviestoun House is a beautifully refurbished 2 storey sandstone cottage in the heart of Dollar, a picturesque small town at the foot of the Ochil hills 13 miles east of the historic city of Stirling. The cottage comfortably sleeps 8 people in four bedrooms. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. Bedroom one, with en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobe, has the flexibility of being either 2 twin beds or one superking size bed. Bedroom two has a double bed. Upstairs, reached from the galleried landing, bedrooms three and four can be either twin rooms or have superking size beds. Both rooms share a modern bathroom with over bath shower. Downstairs the double height sitting room seats 8 people on two three seater sofas and one two seater sofa. There is a log burning stove for you to return to after sightseeing or walking in this beautiful area in the heart of Scotland. The sitting room, like all other rooms, has all new furniture and fittings and gas central heating. The kitchen, with all modern conveniences including 4 ring gas stove and double electric oven, has a dining table for 8 people and a television with Freeview. Leading from the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. Also just off the kitchen is a sunroom which leads to the courtyard garden with outdoor seating and barbecue. Steeped in history, Dollar has all facilities including cafes, restaurants and shopping on your doorstep. Visit 500 year old Castle Campbell, lowland seat of the Duke of Argyll, where Mary, Queen of Scots once lived in the 16th Century. The walk to the castle is by a spectacular series of paths, bridges and walkways in the deep gorges of the glen and its tributaries. Dollar’s other facilities include a small museum and 18 hole golf course notable for its steep inclines and lack of bunkers. As well as being close to Stirling, Dollar is within easy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh and St Andrews to the east so you are perfectly situated to take advantage of all Scotland has to offer from this central location.

Lovely home
Lovely house, lots of space. Beds were comfy and thought if pretty much everything you might need. Clearer signed parking area at back may have helped but would come back

Wonderful!
We had a wonderful stay at the house. It is very spacious, with plenty of room for our group of seven adults. Restaurants, supermarket and the beautiful castle Campbell within walking distance. The place is fully equipped with everything you need: dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer. The beds were comfortable, though the duvets were a bit too warm for the season. With three bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen (including a stocked fridge with milk and eggs), we really couldn’t complain. After returning home, there was some discussion about an alleged damage issue, but thankfully this was resolved in a fair and professional way.
Our family of 5 (all adults) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dollar! The town is charming, and we especially enjoyed being able to walk down the street to the coffee shops, restaurants and co-op grocery store.
The home is warm and inviting. We appreciated that there was room for everyone to have "their space". The beds super comfortable, and three bathrooms were very much appreciated. It was also wonderful to have a washer and dryer available for our use. We very much felt "at home".
The house is on a main road but once we found it and our way around to park at the side, it was easy.
The house was very clean and well presented and warmed up quickly.
The provision of milk, bread, eggs and butter was a lovely touch but I had ordered a shopping delivery so we had extra to take home.
We cooked in the kitchen and it was very well equipped. We had everything we needed.
It is a short walk to the village shops, cafes and restaurants making it ideal to go out for meals and provisions.
I would recommend the property to anyone looking for somewhere in this area.

A luxury home from home.
We arrived to a spotlessly clean house, the basics were provided. Eggs, butter and milk in the fridge, some coffee and sugar.
Everything for a good start.
The wintergarden and the lounge invited for relaxing afternoons and evenings, a wood fired oven made it cozy.
We found a folder with all the instructions for the kitchen fittings, washing machine and dryer and good insights for what to do in Dollar and around.
Stirling Self catering, the agency, was just an email away and replied very quickly.
But thanks to the very good condition of the house that was not necessary.
The only downside are the very pretty blinds, unfortunately they let too much light in, so we woke up quite early every day.
The check out was easy due to very specific emails that explained carefully every step.
We returned home from a fabulous holiday, relaxed and refreshed.
Lovely cottage in a perfect location for us to explore St. Andrews, Edinburgh, and Troon. Dollar is an adorable little village with just enough restaurants. We also hiked up to the castle-it was so picturesque.

A gem of a place!
Dollar was an adorable little town and this house was just perfect. The house in centrally located in town, easy walk to shops and with everything you could need for your stay. We chose to stay here because it was a good spot between Stirling, Edinburgh, and Perth, but we ended up spending a few days in Dollar because it was so beautiful and had access to some great walking trails and Castle Campbell. I would highly recommend this house and this town for your holiday.

Beautiful home in a great location
We stayed in Dollar and did day trips to Stirling, St. Andrew's and Inverness. Great location for exploring and house was perfect for our family of 5.
Clean and comfortable home in a great location. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with kitchen tools and dishes. Close to so many venues and beautiful Dollar Glen scenic views. We would not hesistate to stay again
When we first walked into the house the whole family said, “wow” and that sums it up. Brilliant place and hosts so thanks for everything.

Excellent accommodation
Delightful house set in quiet pretty village. All amenities in easy reach, large supermarkets in Stirling. Well appointed and nicely refurbished. Plenty of room, warm, comfortable. Recommended.
We had a lovely stay at Harviestoun House. The bedrooms were particularly generous in size and comfortable. The kitchen was the best stocked of any of the houses we stayed in during our trip. Excellent handbook of appliance manuals and instructions. So much to see in the area from Edinburgh to Stirling, Culross, the Japanese Garden, Crieff. My two minor criticisms are that the table in the kitchen is a bit tight and the parking situation is not good, especially with a larger group.

Excellent Stay
It was a little difficult to locate the property, perhaps easier to direct people to park in the small lane down the side of the house? So much easier to unload the car there too. Communication with Stirling Self Catering was excellent, fantastic in fact. We loved the house, so roomy and well equipped, spotlessly clean too. Beds were huge which was great!
Having never visited the area before, we loved Dollar and the surrounding countryside, plenty to see and do. We would love to come back at a later date.
First impression - so clean!! Very well provisioned, cosy and comfortable. The family enjoyed the board games, the log burning fire, and the comfy beds. Helpful owner and property manager. Highly recommended.

Great time in Scotland
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harviestoun House in Dollar. The house was clean and comfortable. A great location to venture over to St Andrews and Edinburgh or head west to Glasgow and all parts between. The Stirling Self Catering staff made the booking process easy and responded promptly to questions. We were very happy with our experience and highly recommend.

A wonderful house in the middle of a wonderful village!
Kirsteen was very helpful in sorting out everything for our stay. Since we enjoyed our stay so much, we decided to stay at Harviestoun House for another New Year's. The house is immaculate inside and out. The log burner was most welcome in the evenings. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, the showers are lovely - powerful and warm. The towels and bedding are all provided, as are some samples of shower gel and shampoo. The kitchen is well equipped (save possibly for the lack of baking trays). The lounge has three comfortable sofas and a TV that conveniently comes with Netflix. There is a very helpful manual which sets out everything from the WiFi password to recycling instructions.
In terms of location, there is a lovely Dollar's Deli down the road which serves delicious food. There is a Co-op also within walking distance. There is also a lovely walk up to Castle Campbell which I would highly recommend. It is about 40-50 minutes from either Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport which is very convenient.
Lovely place and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay!
Loved the village this lovely cottage was in. Clean and very well equipped. Beds comfortable we all slept very well. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

Had a lovely stay – just like home from home
Had a lovely stay at Harvistoun House, wish we could have spent longer in the area. Was the perfect base for our two families to stay for my cousin's wedding – and a welcome home from home following a 12-hour drive!
Everything was just right. If we're ever up that far again, we'd love to return.

Dollar visit
A very comfortable stay in this spotless house.
Very well equipped ...we enjoyed a nostalgic evening playing cluedo ...provided for us! We were a bit disappointed it wasn't cold enough to light the very inviting wood burner!
The kitchen was very well equipped too.
We all commented on how comfy the beds were!
The house is in a great location .All the local amenities were nearby . We would all book again.
