We arranged late check-in with Helen who left our room key at the front door. Communication via sms was great. The town centre is a quick walk away and Coles shopping is nearby. Daylesford is enchanting and a walk around the lake is a must-do. The Manse has lovely gardens, off-street parking, and our room was beautifully decorated. We found, however, that the gorgeous furniture came at the expense of practicality. Breakfast was included but almost no space for preparation. The spectacular clawfoot bathtub had a shower hose that, when used, would spray water everywhere. There were no bedside tables. The bed faced a stunning stained glass window but there was no way to cover it and light flooded in day and night making it difficult to sleep. The kitchen sink and fridge was inside a beautiful cupboard but there was no room to stack dishes. The toilet was enclosed in a Victorian-style wooden box which was quaint but cold and uncomfortable to sit on. There was no space for our luggage. The verandah was lovely but there was an ashtray full of cigarette butts next to the table. We would say this room was very much "style over substance" and we were disappointed that a room so beautifully decorated could be so impractical.

My wife and i had a fantastic 2 night stay. Old world charm that we really liked. Our room had everything we needed (who needs a shower when you have a nice big bath) was warm enough for my wife who is a cold frog. A nice short walk to the main st in daylesford and multiple places to dine. Will definitely stay here again when back in the area.

The added extras was a pleasant surprise but the heating didn’t work

Loved the quirkiness of the property. The room was fun. Friendly staff. However the ad stated ‘shower’ in the room amenities and the room did not have a shower. Just a (fabulous) bathtub. The shower was downstairs somewhere. I feel that should be stated obviously on the ad. The breakfast included was average. Inadequate space for making said breakfast, I would just go out for breakie. In fact we did that on our second morning. Nowhere to store bags or clothes. So a night or two is plenty. Unfortunately the spa isn’t working which we were very keen to use. However we still had a lovely stay. The bed is comfy. The property is only a few minutes walk into town. If there was a shower in the room I’d probably stay there again.

The character of the room was nice. The decor fitted the theme. The fireplace was ready to go.
