We stayed in the Napoleon room as we did on our previous trip. The only reason that I could not give an excellent review on every point was that I did not check the breakfast box in arrival only to find out the following morning that it was incomplete and only set for one guest which was disappointing when we had a big day ahead of us. However the manager was very apologetic when we told him that evening and it was a genuine miscommunication between the management and housekeeping. I am sure it would not happen as a norm. The restaurant was fabulous on both evenings and for an out of the way pub it was really busy on both evenings. Lively convivial bar but let down by Hotels.com not making clear only certain rooms were pet friendly which lead to a bit of a stand off when checking in. The red lion was a wonderful place to stay. The staff were friendly and it was very clean. I was worried because we were in the cottage next to the pub that it could be loud, but it wasn't at all. I slept so well and they had really comfortable beds. The shower had good water pressure and the soaps they provided were lovely. It was perfect and exactly what we expected from booking. The room we stayed in was the Napoleon room which did not disappoint. The front view with sheep roaming in the field was a joy to behold. The breakfast box in the room was excellent, having had a wonderful meal the night before.
