This charming three-bedroom, two-bath cottage is the ideal getaway for families or groups of friends looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by the warmth of this lovely house, featuring two separate living areas, each equipped with its own television. The dining room, with seating for 10, provides the perfect setting for shared meals and memorable conversations. Additional seating is available in the kitchen and at the bar, ensuring everyone has a comfortable place to gather. Step outside and discover the delights of outdoor living. Fire up the gas grill for a barbecue or gather around the fire pit in the front yard for cozy evenings under the stars. For those seeking water adventures, Carol's Cottage offers a paddleboard and kayak for your use on the lake. Accessing the water is a breeze with approximately 30 steps leading down to the two-story dock. While the boat slip is not available for guest use, you can tie up to the side of the dock and enjoy the serene surroundings. Please note that there is no power on the dock. Inside the cottage, you'll find thoughtfully appointed bedrooms: Bedroom #1: King-size bed on the main level Bedroom #2: Queen-size bed, along with 2 bunk beds (twin over twin), on the second floor Bedroom #3: Queen-size bed on the second floor Additional sleeping space in a twin over full bunk bed, located downstairs on the main level in a cozy "nook behind the fireplace" with a privacy curtain. Stay connected during your stay with WiFi streaming available on televisions, powered by AT&T WiFi. Direct TV streaming is also at your disposal. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. The boys played on the dock even after getting off the boat! And there is no telling how many times they jumped off the top deck! They enjoyed moving rocks to see how tall they could stack them up! The water is some of the cleanest we have seen(being from Mississippi). The house had everything we needed from the kitchen to the bathroom! We loved the wood floors! Beds were comfortable! We enjoyed the deck and the windows looking over the lake! Very relaxing the best vacation we have been on in a while! We did bring all groceries and took sandwiches out on the boat!
