Spectacular scenery, a fantastic range of activities and plenty of sunshine make this resort a favourite with thousands of winter travellers.
Enjoy some of the best views in the Swiss Alps as you ski or snowboard down the pistes of the Crans-Montana Ski Resort. Hone your freestyle skills at the snowpark, explore miles of beautiful cross-country tracks then relax and sample the range of in-resort entertainment.
With approximately 87 miles (140 kilometers) of slopes for all abilities, there is plenty at Crans-Montana to keep skiers and boarders occupied for days. Much of the ski area is designated red and blue, but if you like something more challenging, take on the Col du Pochet black run.
A little slower, but just as exciting, are the resort’s very own cross-country tracks. Try the 4-mile (7-kilometer) trail that passes through a pretty 18-hole golf course covered in snow, and glide across a frozen lake.
Enjoy a meal with a view at one of the restaurants "on the top." Some of these venues are situated at more than 6,561 feet (2,000 meters) above sea level.
For some freestyle fun, head for the snowpark, which is spread cross two sites. Tackle the jumps, jibs and 459-feet (140-meter) half-pipe.
Families will love the Crans-Montana Snow Island. There is children’s entertainment as well as snow tubing, a magic carpet for novices, indoor golf and a walking path that is illuminated at night.
After a day in your ski boots, take a seat at the bar and enjoy a local beer or maybe a cup of thick hot chocolate. In the evening you can choose from more than 90 restaurants serving everything from the Swiss favorite of fondue to pizzas and pasta dishes.
Crans-Montana Ski Resort is a 2- to 3-hour drive east of Geneva. Alternatively, take a train from Geneva airport to Sierre and then the short shuttle ride to the resort. Accommodation includes hotels, chalets and mountain huts, all a short distance from the slopes. There is a ski school with classes for all ages along with plenty of equipment to rent.
