Party with the young international crowd attracted to the lively shores of Costinesti Beach. Backpackers and students make up the majority of the crowds, especially after the sun goes down and the dancing starts. Purchase beer, shots and other alcoholic beverages to share with your friends from beach vendors. Dance to the music playing in the many bars and cafés behind the beach. Sit on a rock and enjoy the view of the turquoise sea and the horizon. During the day, rent a deckchair and build up a tan in the hot Romanian sun. Cool down with a refreshing swim in the Black Sea. Dive into the waves with your friends and play ball games in the water. In summer, lifeguards monitor the area, which is fairly safe with few rocks. Tour operators offer watersports activities, such as parasailing. Admire the bizarre shape of the Obelisk that has become the most recognizable icon of the beach, its features branching upward into the sky. Capture photos of the shipwreck of the Greek cargo boat Evangelia that was built in the 1940s. The large vessel became lodged between rocks in 1968 and has remained an ever-present feature of the shoreline. Tour the wreckage at sunset in a rented motorboat and swim around the huge ship. Treat rheumatic problems with mud from Lake Costinesti. Treat yourself to a facial with the gooey mud. This area was formerly a small fishing village, but has recently transformed into a popular resort area. It has many inexpensive lodgings and bars booming music from their terraces throughout the day. Rent a villa for the week or choose from low-budget to luxury hotels. Enjoy a traditional local dish, such as fish, from one of the restaurants with seats spilling onto the beach. Costinesti Beach is 18 miles (29 kilometers) south along the coast from Constanta Beach. It is on the eastern shore of Costinesti, next to Lake Costinesti and its accompanying park.
