The first room we were shown stank of cigarette smoke and the carpet was dirty as if not hovered in ages. They sprayed with airfreshner but it did not help. The second room was small with double bed pushed against one wall. Unfortunately a new building has been set up next door. I'm sure if I opened the bedroom window I would have been able to touch the next wall. The restaurant and swimming pool are in the sister hotel the Pearl Grand next door. We asked to move our booking there but the manager next door was not helpful. We left within an hour of checking in. At least the manager of Pearl City was polite and offered to pay our taxi to our new hotel. Room was ok but wifi is not working at all. All other things were just fine. BUT I was thrilled with this hotel UNTIL the last 3 minutes I spent in it. Considering that I had spent $1000 (154020LKR) over a 14 day period for my own and my son's accommodation and then an additional 22573LKR for his wife ,mother, sister and nephew to stay over 2 nights, I was appalled at the reaction to the fact I had used a can of Pepsi from the fridge in the room and replaced it with a larger bottle of Coca Cola. The duty manager demanded I pay 275lkr for an item that retailed at 75lkr. I told him he should be ashamed of himself but the look on his face told me he could not care less. Upon my arrival took them over 3 hrs & 3 different i.t. guys to get internet to work then during my 2 day stay i would have to reconnect internet every 10 mins even when internet worked it was that slow it was basically useless. Then i found out u cannot even make a cup of coffee in room. No electric jug no coffee no tea. the room was absolutely filthy & stank like someone had urinated in the corner of littlest motel room i have ever stayed in.
