Howler and white-faced monkeys often pass through the trees next to house, along with iguanas and raccoons! Being in Costa Rica, you might also spot harmless insects like ants, cockroaches or geckos, especially during the rainy season. Valentine (the manager of the property) is excellent at her job and goes out of her way to help you with reservations for restaurants, fishing, surfing, etc. Lu was also very helpful. The house was perfect for our family of 5 and very comfortable. The staff around Maramar are very friendly, including the housekeeping staff. We travelled with our 2 adult daughters and they had their own rooms at the end of the large balcony and could hang out there if they needed some time on their own. The very back bedroom didn't get wifi though, so our one daughter would just come into one of the common spaces when she wanted to go on her phone. You just need to be prepared for the 103 stairs up and down from the parking spot, combined with the hill if you are walking down to the beach or the main street. The first couple of days were a little tough, but after that, it just was another good leg workout (albeit arriving to the place a little sweaty). The air conditioners worked awesome at night and there were great restaurants close by so we could walk to most our meals when we weren't eating in the property.
