On the positive side….the view from our small window was extraordinary. That’s it. We were a couple travelling with our adult daughter, who is studying in France. I booked this hotel based on the photos and the reviews - and was more than a little disappointed with what we actually got. There was no picture window or balcony or open pleasant spacious room. We were assigned to a cramped garret in poor repair with sloping ceilings and no floor space on the 5th level. (Elevators run to the 4th floor only and it’s stairs after that.) The pullout couch was very uncomfortable; all the pillows were flat. The toilet seat had a broken hinge so it slid around freely, and 2 of the 3 nozzles on the shower head were obstructed meaning showering was a slow painful process. The window had dry-rot on the exterior so that when it was opened, bits and pieces broke off and fell to the floor. The breakfast was incredibly expensive and we didn’t opt-in, so I can’t assess whether it was any good….but based on everything else, we felt it was a very poor bet. There were only about 6 other cars in the parking lot so I can’t account for being relegated to such a terrible room on the basis of over-crowding. It was just very, very underwhelming and disappointing, especially given that it was also not cheap.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful hotel nestled amidst the picturesque vineyards near Lausanne and Montreux. The setting is truly idyllic, offering stunning views that take your breath away. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, making the stay all the more enjoyable. Breakfasts overlooking the serene lake were a highlight, providing a tranquil start to each day. As you drive up, you’re met with the delightful company of chickens and goats, adding a touch of rural charm to the experience. It’s a heartwarming sight that sets the tone for a relaxing stay. The hotel’s location is a dream for wine enthusiasts, surrounded by numerous vineyards to explore. The easy access to both Lausanne and Montreux made day trips a breeze, offering a taste of city life amidst the serene countryside. One minor point of improvement would be the pillows, which were a bit on the uncomfortable side. Having a few extra options would greatly enhance the sleeping experience. Overall, this hotel offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, warm hospitality, and convenient access to nearby attractions. It’s a gem for those seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of Switzerland’s wine country.

I chose Hotel Prealpina because it is away from the busyness of the city, I needed some peace and quiet and wanted to experience a village stay. I could not be more pleased with my selection! The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The dinner and breakfast options were satisfying. Now, the highlight of my stay, THE AMAZING VIEWS from my in-room balcony. I appreciated the opportunity to simply sit with my thoughts and write a few chapters to a new book. Treat yourself to a stay at HP! You wont regret this selection. #hiddengem
