When we first arrived, everything seemed great. Before our stay, we let the landlord know that the silos would need extra cleaning because we have two children with severe dog allergies. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was animal hair all over the floors, and the blankets appeared dirty, as though the property had only received basic maintenance rather than a thorough deep cleaning. The silos are located on a farm, but the property itself didn't seem particularly well maintained for guests. There were fire ants throughout the grounds, which made it difficult for the kids to enjoy being outside. The biggest issue came on our second night when one of the silos developed a horrible odor. We believe there was a dead rat somewhere inside the wall. We notified the staff and were told someone would come the following day, leaving us to deal with the smell overnight. We had to leave the doors to the silo open all night just to make it bearable. The staff did offer us a replacement cabin, which we appreciated, but since we were traveling with a group, we didn't want to be separated. Overall, the location is beautiful. Being right next to the train was a unique experience, and the views were absolutely gorgeous. However, between the cleanliness concerns, the fire ants, and the odor issue, our stay wasn't as comfortable as we had hoped. While the property has a lot of potential, we felt that better maintenance and more thorough cleaning would greatly improve the guest experience
