This is a unique property located on 3 acres right along Route 250. The wrap around covered deck on 3 sides offer privacy, views and a relaxing place to enjoy a meal outside or morning coffee. This character rich home was built for the guest who wants a cozy experience in the country. Fully equipped kitchen. We would love to welcome you!
The space We are new to being short term hosts but we used to run a bed and breakfast business a long time ago. My husband built The Ivy Rose Tea Hose as a contractor and we have had many people stay there for years long term. We are now happy to introduce the house for others to stay short term. The property is very private and perched on a hill above 250 and the pastures across the street. We live about 300 meters away so are on hand but would like to ensure your privacy and a pleasant stay. The kitchen is fully equipped. Towels, linens, bathroom toiletries, etc... everything is provided for a comfortable stay. Just bring you, your loved ones and your bags!
Guest access The entire yard around The Ivy Rose Tea House is yours to use and roam. It has it's own private driveway to come and go as you please. Please do not drive past the house on the driveway as that connects to our personal property.
Other things to note* *The railroad tracks are located right by the property. The train comes thru sometimes during the day and sometimes during the night. We love the train but it may not suite every guest. Please make sure you are okay with hearing a train come by the house before booking!
Toddler crib and high chair provided. Please bring your own crib sheet.

We stayed here two nights and got to wander around Charlottesville. It was fantastic. Clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The kitchen was so great to cook dinner in. We will be back for sure!
The Ivy Rose Cottage was very comfortable and creatively decorated. The kitchen is nicely supplied for cooking simple meals. The trains did not disturb us and were fun to watch, especially the Amtrak. Great pizza and local brewery in nearby Crozet plus an excellent Harris Teeter grocery. Highly recommend this location for anyone looking for an out-of-town stay.
Really enjoyed our stay at this unique property, it is very pretty cottage in a nice area. Stayed here with my wife and parents to attend a wedding in Crozet. Very close to Monticello and some very cool walking trails. The host were very responsive and accommodating.
Great cabin. Layout, furnishings and touches exceeded expectations. Organized and easy. Loved the lighting and plants. Train was a bonus. We’ll be back.
We enjoyed the overall vibe of this adorable mountain cottage— the views, the outdoor spaces, and the indoor aesthetic. It was the perfect space for our group of three.
We really loved the place. It was a lovely home with a nice size and layout for 2-3 people. Very private with beautiful mountain views. It’s a great location! Close to the mountains, wineries and all the rt 151 distilleries and breweries.
We enjoyed the beautifully constructed home perched in the stunning fall landscape. Clean and equipped with all the necessities for a stay. Seeing the stars was a treat! We visited the area for Parents Weekend at UVA and it was a short drive. We hope to return to their special retreat!
My family stayed here during part of our spring break. It was a charming cottage—rustic on the outside, but modern cabin on the inside. My young daughters loved it and keep asking to go back to “the cottage.” The location was excellent and seemingly everything we wanted to check out — trails, wineries, campus — was all less than 30 minutes away. 10/10 would stay again.
The cottage is well maintained, clean and comfortable. Theres a nice firepit with a good view and friendly orange cat that occasionally visits. Its close to some nice areas and many breweries and wineries. The driveway takes some getting used to but isnt too bad.
Beautiful setting, great vistas. The house is adorable and has everything you need for a lovely stay. We heard the train several times, but didn’t bother us a bit. The road noise was a bit louder than expected, but it wouldn’t deter us from booking again in the future. Location was convenient to our trip itinerary plans of exploring sites in Charlottesville and Shenandoah National Park. Overall, a wonderful place for a getaway!
My family and I have stayed here multiple times. Each time it feels like home. Conveniently located. But out of the way enough to enjoy the quietness of the area. Beds are comfy. Shower unique. Living room spacious and cozy yet offers amazing opportunity for family memory making. We plan on staying here every time we’re in town.
This is our second time staying at this property, and as before, we very much enjoyed ourselves. The house is beautiful, with wonderful space and carefully thought out little details. You will be quite comfortable and happy here. And the grounds, and the views, are spectacular. We truly enjoyed sitting on the porch for a couple hours, and ditto for starting a fire in the fire pit and roasting marshmallows one evening. This is a special place.
We had a lovely time! The scenery was beautiful! The cabin was gorgeous! Great set up and everything you need! Close to our favorite restaurants and not far from beautiful hikes! The train did not bother us at all. There was more traffic noise than expected due to the main road being near but nothing major! Thanks for a wonderful experience!
My sister-in-law and I had a quick weekend getaway to wine country and this cottage was perfect! We each got our own room and room to spead out comfortably. And a beautiful surprise was a bouquet of fresh flowers waiting for us! Amazing! It was well equipped for cooking (and a very sensitive fire alarm) and the views were gorgeous. We enjoyed cups of coffee every morning overlooking the front. Just perfect!
Girls weekend!! The cottage is adorable and had everything we needed. Love the custom features throughout! The train was a non issue…yes, the train goes by a couple times a day but since the train doesn’t blow its horn it’s barely noticeable. We spent both evenings around the firepit and the host happily refilled our wood supply. Would definitely stay here again!!
I rented this place for my mother and her partner. She uses a walker and we needed to make sure she could have easy access. She was able to navigate the few steps and they absolutely loved staying there.
The wrap around porch was a hit. They drank their coffee outside every day.
They enjoyed quietness of the location and the occasional train. They also felt very safe.
We would rent again.
The house is beautiful -- spotless; charming views (from both master bedroom and living/dining area); wonderfully appointed; carefully maintained. We were very comfortable/happy there. And Mary was very responsive to our questions, including pointing us to a great set of hikes (and a camping store when we had a boot problem).
The outside of the property is also lovely -- great deck, nicely set up for sitting and taking in the views; fire pit. We spent a lot of time on the deck looking at hills and the clouds. The one thing to be aware of: the house is between a set of train tracks and a busy road. You can't see either from the house (at this time of year, at least), and so the view is amazing, but you will always hear road noise when outside; and the train will come by once or twice a day, which you will hear inside.
Having said all of that, we quickly tuned out the traffic sounds while on the deck, and you can't really hear it from inside. The train takes a couple of minutes to go by, and then it's gone. My wife is very sensitive to noise, and she loved the place and had no trouble sleeping.
So, a word to the wise, I guess. But the larger point is that we were very pleased w/ the rental and would happily stay there again. It's owned by someone who obviously has both excellent taste and the desire to maintain the property at a very high level.
