My fiance and I were asked to visit a PhD program in UConn and, like many twenty-somethings, we had barely enough money to drive up from NJ, let alone stay in a hotel. Passport Inn.., not only had one of the lowest prices in the UConn area but like many of the reviews we read, it was exactly what we hoped it would be: a decent place to rest our head after driving 6 hours. The guy at the desk was nice and incredibly flexible on when we checked out (we needed an extra hour). Although it wasn't advertised, the room came with free internet which we used more than the cable tv. Water pressure and temp was good BUT we would have been screwed if we didn't bring our own toiletries (shampoo and soap especially). The room did not have blow dryers or a coffee maker as described on one web site. Also...NO CLOSET! It had a rack that was over the microwave/refrigerator. So, really, no amenities. The room was clean and the people were very nice. It was further from UCONN than I had wanted.
