This is a No Smoking home that's situated on 90 acres. Its a secluded private location, not far from several towns such as Beacon, Cold spring, Carmel and Mahopac that have all your necessities. Miles upon miles of hiking trails begin just 2 miles to the west in Fahnestock State Park which also has summer boat rentals, beach and a winter park for snow activities such as xcountry skiing, sledding and snowshoeing. There is some limited snowshoeing on property when the conditions permit. Limited hiking is permitted on the property when permission is granted, inquire for details. We offer a 10% discount for weekly stays and 20% for a month or longer. Located in the Historic Hudson Valley you are close to many actvities including, Breakneck Mountain, Historic Cold Spring, Beacon, Bear Mountain State Park, Westpoint Military Academy, Thunder Ridge skiing, Ninham Mountain, White Pond Multiple Use Areas, and the Hudson Highlands State Park. Other nearby attractions include Chuang Yen Monastery, Boscobel, Glynwood Gardens, Constitution Marsh and Breakneck Ridge. Lost in the Woods is a great place to unwind, read, write, relax outdoors or indoors. There is not a neighbor in sight from this old homestead, where you are far from the hustle and bustle of more populated areas . With ample windows, two bonus rooms, and a working fireplace you will feel like you are outdoors even when sheltered inside. Enjoy the serenity of this rural home which is only about an hour drive from NYC and 20 minutes from two Metro-North train stations. You will find supermarkets and local restaurants conveniently nearby in the Town of Carmel and you will find it's only a 20 minute ride down scenic Route 301 and Route 9D to the City of Beacon, 10 miles to the quaint Village of Cold Spring., The City of Poughkeepsie, the Newburgh Waterfront and Danbury Ct. are a 30 minute drive. In the mornings, we saw deer and wild turkey. And so many birds! The living room is larger than it appears in the pictures, and there are games, puzzles, and books in good condition. The separately controlled baseboard heat in the bathroom is a nice touch. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed, and there are plenty of outlets throughout the house despite it being originally an older house. John was very responsive to our questions.
