"My wife and I stayed for several nights in April. The old church turned convent turned hotel is lovely and very well located in Old San Juan just off a small square with a fountain. Cobblestone street leads past a large cathedral and many shops, ending at a park and old arched wall. It is historic. Office staff were helpful and friendly, making change for a large bill with no trouble and recommending a local restaurant that was excellent. The restaurant in the picturesque inner courtyard served tasty meals and drinks under a canopy and is surrounded by plants, featuring an ambient, flowing fountain, and is shaded by a large tree.
Though the air conditioning made sleep a bit difficult in the king bed, the room was spacious. A small table outside allowed views of the street.
Be sure to walk downhill through the last remaining entrance gate to the sea wall. A lovely path at night was romantic, a real gem.
The location is far enough from the gigantic cruise ships to allow a little less crowdedness.
On Fridays those ships are not allowed to dock, so plan accordingly. We took a tour of the rain forest then."
