The Apartment Casa Pinocchio is part of a six units farmhouse called 'Il Borghetto' (formerly a rural, rustic farmhouse from the 14th century) in the hills below the village of San Gennaro near Lucca. The apartment is a tasteful blend of rustic, contemporary and antique furnishings. A 5 x 12 metre communal swimming pool with beautifully manicured lawns is shared by the apartments and is located on the terrace above the apartment with lovely views down the valley toward Lucca.We are proud to offer a lifestyle in the heart of Tuscany that is truly unique. Picture yourself on the grounds of an historic 14th century building, rebuilt to the highest standards using only traditional Tuscan materials and methods, from handmade terra cotta tiled floors, to chestnut beams and tiled ceilings. The property also makes extensive use of hand built stone walls in keeping with the character and traditions of Tuscany.The entrance is a spectacular double-wide glass door, in keeping with the original architecture of the building, as this room was where the farm animals were kept. The inviting open floor plan, which includes the living, dining and kitchen areas, is perfect for sharing meals and conversation. The fully equipped kitchen featuring granite counter-tops has everything you need: a six-burner gas stove, oven and broiler, and dishwasher.There are two large ensuite bedrooms/bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has French doors leading out to your private sitting area. Lots of light with windows in all bedrooms and bathrooms. In the medium hills above the Lucca plain and below the historic village of San Gennaro, we offer a piece of solitude in the Tuscan hills. Beautiful place to relax and make trips in the surroundings. The apartment is clean, spacious and gives a lot of privacy with the two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Pinocchio apartment is at the outside of the building you have your own, shaded place to sit outside. The swimming pool is nice has beautiful relax beds and seats, shadow places and a shower. This part of Tuscany we did not know yet and it is a nice part of Tuscany. We have had a wonderful time with 4 adults at . The trip to Lucca is only 25 minutes. The digital guide book works well and Martina our hostess is friendly and supports during our stay. With these warm temperatures an airco becomes almost necessary in the apartment. Please inform guests that the last 500 meters the road to the premises is unpaved and has some challenges. Quiet surroundings and easy drivability to northern Tuscany. Silvana was amazing to work with and helped us find a local oil and wine tasting that was amazing. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Only problem was unreliability of internet at times. Pool was well kept with lots of seating and shade covers. Roadway was a bit of a challenge to drive but we got proficient at driving it. Wished we had discovered little pizza restaurant earlier. It was on main road at bottom of driveway and called “Pizzeria Orlandi”. In 20min ist man in Lucca was wunderschön ist. Weg zur Unterkunft ist sher abenteuerlich aber ganz ok wen das Auto nicht tiefergelegt ist. Das Appartement war sehr sauber und mit allem Wesentlichen ausgestattet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der Komfort von zwei Badezimmern. Den schönen Pool haben wir sehr genossen. Sie ist sehr schön eingerichtet, sauber und hat an der Seite einen privaten Sitzbereich - mit Kindern fanden wir das angenehm. Andere Wohnungen haben die Tische unter den Olivenbäumen, dort ist man dann näher an den Nachbarn dran. Die Kinder konnten so hinter dem Haus rennen, ohne jemanden zu stören. Der Pool ist traumhaft, die ganze Anlage sehr gepflegt. Jim hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen und ist für die Gäste immer gut erreichbar. Wir haben uns alle rundum wohl gefühlt und würden sofort wieder hinfahren. Mit einem tiefer gelegten Fahrzeug könnte die Zufahrt etwas heikel werden. Bevor der Schotter beginnt, hat der Teer einige „Hügelpassagen“. Das ist noch eine öffentliche Straße.... Den Schotterweg selbst hält Jim gut in Schuss. Mit unserem normalen Kombi war das alles aber kein Problem und sollte niemanden vom il Borghetto fernhalten. Es ist ein ganz besonderer Ort. ##### Maria S. Dieses Objekt können wir ohne jede Einschränkung weiterempfehlen. Alles entspricht genau der Beschreibung, auch Waschmittel, Grillkohle, Sonnenschirme und Luftmatratzen für den Pool sind vorhanden. We have just returned yesterday from a wonderfully relaxing 10 day stay in Il Borghetto, and cannot praise it enough. The ride up the track made us realise just how hidden it was, but was well worth it. We arrived in a thunder storm, but Jim was ready with umbrellas and a wonderful welcome for us. The storm passed quickly and warm weather resumed for the rest of our stay. The cosy, clean apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and was just what 2 work weary couples needed to re-charge our batteries! The house has been beautifully renovated, and is a credit to Jim, who obviously put his heart into turning a very run down, but lovely old house back into somewhere that is very much loved and tasteful. The pool was a very welcome addition with great views up towards the tiny village, which is an easy 20 minute walk up from the house. It was lovely to wander round on the Sunday as there were some craft stalls heading up towards the church, and we had a good meal in the very pretty garden at the back of the cafe/bar ( drinks only at the front in the covered area) It's a great base to explore from, Lucca is a great to spend a day, as is the old town in Pistoia, Montecarlo is tiny quaint village worth visiting for a good meal and beautiful views, and if you want to see the hillside villages of the Cinque Terre, for a better experience than the train we suggest you go by boat from Port Venere. Jim is a lovely man and the 'font of all knowledge' regarding places to go and couldn't have been more helpful, with information for us when we said where we were thinking of going and also with booking a table at a family run restaurant nearby, so a big "thank you" for making our stay even better. Apr 10, 2017 #### Il Borghetto is a wonderful place! We had a great week in Casa Pinocchio and found it very comfortable and well equipped. The property is very peaceful and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Our three year old had great fun in the garden; it was too cold to go in the pool but we could imagine it would be fantastic in warmer months. Jim was a great host and was very helpful both before and during our stay promptly answering any questions we had via email and giving tips for the local area. Oct 30, 2016 #### Picturesque beauty in Tuscany This was our first time abroad and we couldn't have gone to a more beautiful villa!! The apartment was perfect for two people. It was spotless and perfectly maintained. Jim and Debbie were phenomenal hosts; warm and helpful with every aspect of our trip. Lucca is charming and although we rented a car, the villa is located quite close to train stations, restaurants and coffee shops.
