#### Hop on the tram and be whisked away to this rustic coastal region, just minutes outside Alicante’s city centre.

Decades of tourist development along the Spanish coast have eroded some of the traditional character from the coastal towns. But El Campello and its stunning Campello Beach have resisted the transformation. The area offers a beautiful seaside getaway with all of southern Spain’s authentic charm. Make the trip to the beach for some of the best watersports on the coast or to visit the lively fishing harbor and watch the boats come and go. A stroll along the miles of wide, pristine white sand will reveal beautiful beachfront architecture and the relaxed approach to life perfected by generations of locals. Campello Beach is the perfect daytrip for visitors to Alicante, and a family-friendly swimming spot. 

Campello Beach is vast, so it’s never hard to find some privacy. Be sure to bring towels, umbrellas and sun protection, as there are few vendors offering these services on the beach. There are, however, plenty of opportunities to rent watersports equipment, and many operators run dive tours and sailing classes in the area. After you’ve enjoyed the sun and water, make your way to the Campello Beach promenade to sample local cuisine. 

A short walk along the shore will reveal a series of colorful oceanfront houses. Once the domain of local fishermen, the houses are now home to more affluent families. The brilliant and varied shades provide a beautiful photo opportunity. Scattered between the houses are high-quality restaurants and bars. Seafood is the regional specialty, with ingredients sourced directly from the fishing harbor. Head to the harbor in the afternoon to experience the action of the daily fish auctions.

Campello Beach is located approximately 8 miles (13 kilometers) south of Alicante, and can be reached by tram, car or taxi. Parking in the town is easy to find and free of charge.
