Good room size which was in good condition with all the amenities you would expect. Large comfortable bed and an excellent power shower. Good quality tea/coffee with branded chocs which was a nice touch. Very friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was excellent, tasty, large portions and reasonably priced. Wide choice of breakfast options. Arrived on a Tuesday 17:00, place in darkness! Found the owner by knocking on the door, only to be told that the pub and restaurant were closed on a Tuesday. No mention of this when booking - info says 'restaurant'. Stayed here for one night on a business trip. The pub is closed Monday and Tuesday so it was not obvious how we would get into the place. Luckily, I remembered getting an email with a phone number. The phone was answered immediately and the owner appeared moments later to let us into the building. He was very friendly and recommended an amazing Indian restaurant where we could eat (Lalbagh in Bourn, amazing!) The accommodation was comfortable and quiet although a little dated and would benefit from freshening up however, everything worked and the shower was fantastic. A good night's sleep and a decent shower suits me. Delightful small country hotel with bags of character and warm, welcoming staff. Delicious breakfasts and evening meal and we found our room and bathroom very well furnished and clean. We can certainly recommend the Golden Ball- ideal for visits to Cambridge. Had a wonderful stay at the Golden Ball Inn, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious.
