Unusual and surprising features keep delighting you as you come across them. The lovely swimming pool with a wide shallow shelf where you can sit or lay or even place a sunbed and listen to the the water lapping around you; a great private nook overlooking the swimming pool with a shelf with mattress and sitting area, perfect for relaxing or reading; a striking private zen garden to the side where you can see a trickling waterfall incorporated into a working levada; a vine-covered veranda for relaxing in the evening and watching the sunset. The vine covered veranda with outdoor dining table and relaxing chairs of Villa do Mar IV is reached via steps (either from the gate or from the double car garage). Steps from here lead to the swimming pool and sun deck located on the western side of the property. To the opposite side you will find the secluded zen garden, the perfect place to relax and contemplate. This whole floor is occupied by the sitting area, that meanders through the open plan dining area and fully equipped kitchen and laundry (with built-in barbecue), all featuring large patio doors to make the most of those wonderful views of the sea and surrounding banana trees. Both bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms are upstairs and benefit from these same views. A lovely little beach hut is located right on the rocky beach 30 metres below, and shared by, the four Villas do Mar. A front terrace with sunbeds, outdoor shower and built-in barbecue and large table (seating for 16), is complemented with a kitchen (fridge, 4-ring hob) and toilet. Access is via a pathway with steps that leads from the level of the Villas do Mar down to the beach. The many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside. Swimming pool Type: Rectangular Length: 7,90m Width: 1,75m to 3,10m Depth: 0,80m to 1,52m Swimming pool heating: Heating is optional and costs 140,00€ per week for 24ºC, paid in cash on arrival. A supplement of 30,00€ per week applies for each additional degree up to a maximum of 26ºC. Pool heating can be provided and should be requested at least one week in advance. Should it be requested after arrival at the villa, the minimum charge applicable is one week, which is payable from the time the heating is turned on. Beach Hut There is access to the beach below via an old trail and steps. Beach hut, shared by all 5 Villas do Mar with front terrace with sunbeds, outdoor shower and built-in barbecue and large table (seating for 16), is complemented with a kitchen (fridger, 4-ring hob) and toilet. Nearby A few minutes by car will take you to the resort town of Calheta, which, with its man-made golden beaches, is popular with tourists and locals alike. There is a beautiful marina and a selection of bars and restaurants. Calheta is famous for producing the best white rum ‘Aguardente’, a special ingredient of the typical Madeiran drink ‘Poncha’. If you are interested in knowing how the white rum is made, we recommend a tour of the ‘Engenho da Calheta’ the rum distillery where you can wander around and sample the produce. Madeira is a paradise for those who enjoy walking and hiking, and Arco da Calheta is ideally situated, having easy access to the road network and most places on the island. Within 15 minutes are the beaches at Ponta do Sol and Ribeira Brava, the esplanades at the surfing paradises of Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar. An easy 30 minute drive brings you to the capital, Funchal. La piscine est splendide, le jardin tropical avec ses grenouilles magnifique. Les lumières d’ambiance extérieures sont à top!! Le tout très bien entretenu! Le petit bémol vient peut être du matelas de la chambre parentale très dur ( ça c’était pas cool pour nous mais bon on s’y fait!) et la vaisselle un peu dépareillé et manquante ( 1 seul verre à vin)! Perfekte Location für einen Urlaub für zwei Paare. Die Anfahrt über eine äußerst schmale Küstenstraße ist eine Herausforderung für ungeübte Autofahrer. Toll wäre es wenn der der Pool eine Nachtabschaltung hätte. Das etwas kleinere Schlafzimmer liegt direkt am Pool und das Überlaufen des Poolwassers in der Nacht wurde von unseren Mitreisenden als nervig empfunden. Dank Bruno wurde aber schnell und unkompliziert Abhilfe geschaffen. Wir haben den Grill im Haus genutzt, dazu ist zu beachten das man die Schiebetür schließen sollte. Wenn sie offen steht kann es passieren das die Rauchmelder Alarm schlagen. Ansonsten aber keine Geruchsbelästigung im Haus wenn man den Grill nutzt. Da die Schiebetür eigentlich immer offen ist hatten wir mehrfach unfreiwillig Kontakt mit der zu sauberen Scheibe. :-)) Vielleicht wäre ein Aufkleber hilfreich. Ganz toll fanden wir das Froschkonzert im Zen Bereich des Gartens. Das und die tolle Aussicht auf Meer wird uns fehlen aber dauerhaft in unserer Erinnerung bleiben. ##### Jürgen H. Die Villa selbst hat eine wirklich tolle Lage und das Grillhaus unten am Strand sollte man unbedingt einmal am Tag nutzen es ist herrlich und Ruben freut sich immer über Leute (wenn er da ist) ich würde immer wieder über oumadeira buchen, die sind wirklich toll vor ort und lösen alle Probleme schnell und wirklich super. ##### Volker H.
