The property, recently and accurately restored, is part of an ancient and evocative baglio - a traditional and characteristic rural architectural structure consisting of a central courtyard with outlying buildings - and includes, as well as Marietta, the house of Don Carlo, the little house of Titi and that of the owners, who with professional discretion are always ready and willing to offer help and advice. At the edge of the property, protected by thickets and greenery, the splendid swimming pool with solarium offers the chance to relax for all the guests of Marietta, Don Carlo and Titi. Marietta itself personifies the soul of real Sicily with its perfect blend of tradition and modernity, style and comfort. Wood beamed ceilings and thick stone walls characterize a welcoming living room with a fireplace, a well-equipped kitchen that opens onto the terrace, two comfortable double bedrooms, a walk-through bedroom with two single beds and two bathrooms. Casa Marietta is also the ideal base for exploring the charms of the local area. The beach of San Vito Lo Capo, the nature reserve of the Zingaro, the stacks at Scopello, the medieval town of Erice, the temple of Segesta, Trapani, Marsala, Mozia and the Egadi islands are all just a few kilometres away. De temperatuur in de regio lag voor ons iets te hoog (elke dag 35+) maar binnen hadden we goede airco's. Ook was het erg aangenaam om een duik te kunnen nemen in het zwembad. Helaas was deze niet af te dekken, waardoor er veel insecten etc. in terecht kwamen. Voor de temperatuur was afdekken niet nodig, het water was behoorlijk goed opgewarmd door de zon! Onze zoon had een eigen "speelkamer" met bank, bureautje en een klein beetje speelgoed. En de (wijn)bar, in de schuur naast het huis, was ook een hele mooie plek waar je tegen een lage prijs heerlijke wijn kon kopen. De keuken van het huis vonden we wat incompleet, geen snijplanken, ovenwanten, ovenschalen en geen prullenbak bijvoorbeeld. Ook hadden het prullenbakje in de badkamer boven en de toiletborstels wat ons betreft wel vervangen mogen worden. We zien dit echter als puntjes op de "i", want het huis was verder mooi en comfortabel. In de omgeving zijn een aantal leuke restaurantjes. Ristorante Pizzeria U Pittusu is een prachtige plek, net als Pizzeria Quetzal (de pizza's zijn hier wel echt lekkerder). Peppe E Nino is ook heel gezellig. En overal hebben ze patat, ideaal voor onze moeilijke eter. Al met al hebben we een hele fijne tijd gehad in dit mooie huis! ##### Jessica A. Séjour de 7 nuits en juin 2022
