Down on the lower deck, stargazing in a clear night from the hot tub is a must. The only bad thing about our stay was that it had to come to an end. It was the perfect house for us--plenty of sleeping space, bathrooms, gathering space (indoors and out) for the group, a big kitchen for all the cooks, and at the end of the day and miles of trails, a big hot tub for a relaxing soak. The view is spectacular and the home is convenient to all that Mt. Mitchell and the BRP has to offer in the area. The owner Suzanne is wonderfully responsive and helpful. The only thing more impressive than the view and serenity is the thoughtfulness and hospitality offered by the owners. We are teachers and travel with our 3 teenagers as much as possible on breaks. We have been to many, many short term rental properties, but Rising Sun has proven to be our hands down fave. It is always immaculately clean. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING to make your stay perfect and are always readily available if needed. Our fave activities are the various creekside and waterfall hikes, family game and movie nights and of course staring at the long range mountain views from the hot tub.
