The house is a small apartment equipped with every comfort (well-heated in winter and naturally cool in the summer months) that is part of a large, charming stone house situated on a hill overlooking the sea. It is situated in the center of a park spanning about one hectare—entirely our own property—featuring olive and juniper trees and Mediterranean scrub, surrounded by forests of junipers and native pines, as well as sand dunes up to 100 meters high, in a breathtaking 360-degree landscape. Silence reigns supreme, promoting restful sleep and helping you relax to the fullest. There are ample parking spaces and outdoor areas with ocean views where you can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner, take a walk in the woods, or simply sit back and read a good book in complete tranquility. If you’re traveling with children, dogs, or cats (we love pets and they’re welcome here), this is the ideal place to safely enjoy nature. The beautiful sea, with the golden-sand beaches of Portixeddu and San Nicolao, is just a three-minute drive away. Just a few kilometers away are Capo Pecora, Cala Domestica, Buggerru, Scivu, Piscinas, and Masua-Pan di Zucchero-Porto Flavia—all beautiful and well-known destinations. The towns of Fluminimaggiore and Buggerru are each 7 kilometers away, and you can reach them in ten minutes to shop at affordable supermarkets or purchase excellent local products, such as cheeses, fish, and high-quality meats, vegetables, and pastries. Or to dine at some small but delightful restaurants or agritourism spots. We highly recommend enjoying a sunset aperitif from one of the small beach bars on Portixeddu-San Nicolao beach, such as Onda Anomale, Dido Beach, or Bananao. In short, our region offers a wide range of options for your vacation. We don’t guarantee a sophisticated or elite stay, but we do promise a unique one—one that offers exceptional experiences, from unforgettable swims in crystal-clear waters to hiking or horseback riding, mountain biking, climbing on inland or coastal cliffs, surfing, or excursions to ancient mining sites along the trails of the Santa Barbara Mining Trail, which winds through millennia-old forests and the wildest, most fascinating coastlines. Along these routes, which traverse the neighboring territories of Fluminimaggiore and Buggerru, you’ll encounter—alongside a gentle and welcoming population that keeps its traditions alive— the magnificent and secluded Punic-Roman Temple of Antas, the splendid caves of Su Mannau, the mining sites of Su Zurfuru and Arenas, and the Henry Tunnel. In Fluminimaggiore, you’ll also find the Ancient Licheri Mill, now a gem of an ethnographic museum, and a small but incredible Paleontological Museum, with an astonishing collection of fossils and minerals. Just a few more kilometers away (no more than thirty km) lie the mining villages of Ingurtosu (with the incomparable Piscinas Beach and its desert-like dunes) and the Montevecchio mining archaeology complex. In short, in this region—now known as the Costa delle Miniere—there are plenty of things to do and see. And the vacation we’re offering you will never be ordinary. Wonders to see, to savor, to love. To remember and to experience again.
