There was a notice on their website but no notice on Expedia. The surrounding town was largely closed too, so being without food options was not acceptable. The hotel emailed to confirm my reservation. I complained and asked for a cancellation and refund. They never answered. As the cost was prepaid, I guess I will not get my money back. Ultimately we booked into a hotel in Kirkwall. This was a shockingly bad experience. I would urge everyone to avoid this “hotel”." It was quite comfortable but we were always conscious of the white carpet in the living space and bedroom. We had stayed on the island before and enjoyed many of the activities and visits again. (Ring of Brodgar, Marwick Head, The causeway down to South Ronaldsay, st Magnus cathedral and lots of birdwatching).
