It was carefully designed to have minimal impact on the beautiful natural setting and take full advantage of the stunning panoramic views over the Islands and Bays of the North Shore. Far away from any other houses the only sounds you hear are the waves on the rocks far below.... The original house was severely damaged by category 5 hurricane Irma in September 2017 but has now been completely rebuilt to an even higher standard than before. We took the opportunity to make some major improvements and upgrades creating new spaces and featuring all new high end appliances, equipment and furnishings. The result is an aesthetic and highly individual dwelling that delightfully complements the spectacular location. The house is simple, comfortable and very well equipped with accommodation consisting of one bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen / living room together with a large covered veranda, a brick courtyard and wooden decks around an infinity edge pool and hot-tub area. The bedroom has an elegant and very comfortable king size bed with stylish antique furniture and polished wooden floors. There is also a quiet A/C unit in the bedroom if you prefer to close the doors at night. Adjacent is a bathroom with a Turkish marble sink and a unique, private indoor/outdoor shower area. Fine quality towels and linens are provided. The kitchen / main room is equipped with a professional Viking stove, stainless steel fridge with ice and water dispenser, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, toaster and everything else you might need. There is also new AC installed or you can simply open all the glass doors and let the breezes flow through. Outside there is a Weber gas grill and fireplace The recently upgraded audio visual system includes high speed wifi, a Sonos sound system and touchscreen controller with Spotify account for music streaming and the smart TV has Netflix and Hulu accounts as well as several other entertainment services One of the loveliest features of Kerensa is the beautiful infinity edge pool. A salt water chlorine generator system keeps the water crystal clear and gently sanitised without harsh chemicals. Lights in the pool can be controlled remotely and with many colour options depending on your mood. There is also very private hot tub nestled among the boulders with a view across Shark Bay. Surrounded by fairy lights strung in the trees at night, the setting is truly magical. Close by are the world class beaches of Brewers Bay (3 minutes by car) which features an uncrowded half mile of golden sand and superb snorkeling and Cane Garden Bay (10 minutes) with its’ famous beach and plethora of lively bars and restaurants. Just along the coast to the East are two stunning, white sand and very out of the way beaches - Trunk Bay and Rogues Bay, that you can often enjoy just to yourself. Kerensa is centrally situated to explore the island. Roadtown (the capital) is 15 minutes over the hill on the South Shore. Access from the public road is along a short unpaved track (a 4WD vehicle is advisable), once inside Kerensa' s remote-controlled electronic gate the driveway is fully paved. The parking area has been deliberately sited away from the house to preserve the natural ambience, with a series of steps (39 to be precise!) leading down to the house. “Kerensa” is the word for love in the ancient Celtic language of Cornwall in SW England, an area featured in the writings of Thomas Hardy who surely would have appreciated this unique and romantic retreat, "Far from the madding crowd"... ## Property amenities ### Beach - Upon our arrival we were greeted with music and a bottle of champagne which was amazing as we were there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Communication with the host was easy and the few minor things we ran into were taken care of immediately. Tortola is a beautiful island and everyone we met was extremely friendly. It was a perfect place to unplug from our hectic pace of life. The sunsets were mesmerizing. We cooked many nights at the house so that we could just enjoy the solitude it provided. The air conditioner in the bedroom was extra nice, and sleep was easy. We can't say enough about the hosts response to any needs that we had, as the communication was excellent. The house was awesome and had everything needed. Absolutely loved the pool and the view from it. Speaking of the view, best we have ever stayed at. It was serene looking out on the ocean/island and watching the boats go by. Ben (host) was great providing information on the area and was available if needed. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it did not disappoint! The highlights were the hot tub tucked in a secluded spot with an amazing view of the ocean, the view from the house was gorgeous, the property was beautifully designed and very cleanly. The host was very responsive and answered all of our questions. We will definitely be back! People staying here should have a car and be okay with a long stairwell down to the house. ##### Mary jo B. Just what we needed! We had a lovely stay at this beautiful location on Brewer's Bay! The house was perfect for just the two of us. It is secluded, which was what we were looking for. Our host was out of town but his son took care of us and checked in on us. We liked how we could just unplug, read our books, and enjoy the beautiful views. The sunsets were amazing as described and we enjoyed all of our happy hours and dinners on the deck overlooking the gorgeous view. There was no need to go out to dinner as this was the best view on the island. Thank you to Ben and Zeb for the hospitality and a beautiful villa! We hope to be back someday! ##### Jennifer F. Although we lost power a couple of times for a few hours each, we had a fabulous visit. The views are absolutely stunning from the house and pool, and the house is 100% private. Brewers Bay is an uncrowded and beautiful beach just a short 5 minute drive from the house. Another highlight of our trip was Smugglers Cove and Nigel’s Beach Bar about 25 minute drive from house. Private, secluded and peace and quiet. Ben is the best to work with. Sun set views over Jost VanDyke are amazing. Relatively Short walk down to Brewers Bay beach, steep climb back but a good workout. Ferry rides to Virgin Gorda and the surrounding islands are a cheap great way to get around and spend the day exploring. Book it! ##### michael b. The property is exactly as described, if not better! The view is spectacular, and the house is very well-equipped. Very close to Brewer’s Bay beach, which is the overall best beach for relaxing/swimming/snorkeling. The Sonos speaker system was wonderful as well - provided a great atmosphere. Ben was available for questions. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area. A rental car is definitely a plus, and 4-wheel drive is a MUST. 10/10 would recommend this house and will likely return! The views were incredible and the home was well equipped. Very private. Bed was comfortable and the hot shower was such a cool feature. We rented a car and drove to Brewers bay for a few afternoons. The driveway is rough so take your time. I cook and loved the appliances along with the grill. If you want to use the espresso machine you’ll have to get ground espresso at a coffee shop. It’s the jungle so it got a bit buggy at times if that bothers you. Owner supplied some Off spray so we used it but bring whatever you like for mosquitoes.
