The museum sits on the edge of the vast Northumberland National Park, close to Walltown Quarry Country Park (9 miles), a beautiful haven of nature filled with well-trodden footpaths and easy walking routes. Further outdoor adventures await towards the North Pennines AONB (5 miles), including the more challenging ascent of Cold Fell Summit (6.5 miles), Cumbria’s northernmost mountain.


Approach this adorable lodge and take a few steps up to step inside. Designed with an open-plan layout, the space places everything you need for a comfortable stay within easy reach. In one corner, a cosy double bed is tucked away with soft linens and plush cushions, positioned opposite a TV with Freeview and a warming wood burner – perfect for settling in on cooler evenings. The kitchenette is lightly equipped yet fully functional, ideal for preparing picnics for your daily adventures or nourishing breakfasts to start the day. When the weather isn’t suitable for alfresco dining, a small indoor seating area offers a comfortable alternative. An en-suite bathroom completes the interior, featuring a full-sized shower and WC.
