About this property

Rowella Cottage

  • Tucked away on the edge of the idyllic village of Blisland close to Bodmin Moor, Rowella Cottage is a charming one-bedroom retreat that effortlessly combines rustic character with contemporary comfort. This idyllic hideaway is tailor-made for couples seeking a peaceful escape and a chance to explore the natural beauty of the Cornish countryside.

Step inside the welcoming lounge, where original wooden floors, and a sleek, modern wood-burning stove create an inviting and homely ambiance. A plush sofa, ambient lighting, and elegant coastal artwork enhance the space’s serene and stylish vibe.

The adjoining kitchen exudes charm with its country style. Fully equipped with a modern electric oven, toaster, kettle, and a comprehensive array of cookware, it’s ideal for rustling up anything from a lazy breakfast to a romantic supper after a day exploring the moor or the nearby coastline.

Downstairs, the tranquil double bedroom invites rest and relaxation, featuring soft linens, a traditional wooden bedframe, and whitewashed exposed beams that speak to the cottage’s historic character. Natural light pours in through the window, framing soothing views of the surrounding countryside. Thoughtful details—such as bedside lamps and delicate botanical prints—add a touch of comfort and charm.

The cottage is ideally placed for walkers and cyclists on the Camel Trail, with the closest entry point at Tresarrett nearby. The nearest village is Blisland, complete with a traditional inn, village shop, post office, community café and ancient church all situated around a picturesque village green. The Church dedicated to St Protus and St Hyacinth was a favourite of Sir John Betjeman CBE, Poet Laureate. Walkers can make their way up onto nearby Bodmin Moor to explore sites such as Jubilee Rock, Alex Tor or Roughter.

Port Isaac is a beautiful town famed for the TV series Doc Martin. Padstow is also within easy reach, as are other great places to visit including the surfing beach at Polzeath, the shopping town of Wadebridge, the Eden Project, cycling trails at Cardinham Woods, and many fabulous other beaches such as Trebarwith Strand and Bedruthan Steps. The Grade II-listed property Pencarrow House offers a fun, dog-friendly day out, while the National Trust property Lanhydrock is also close by. The immersive historical attraction The Story of Emily and the Cornish hedge labyrinth Kerdroya are also within travelling distance.

Bike storage is available at this property.

The property is not suitable for children and is exclusively for adult guests.

Rowella Cottage allows up to 1 well-behaved dog during your stay.

The building is split between two cottages, Demelza Cottage and Rowella Cottage. Please be mindful of other guests during your stay.

Wi-Fi is available, but signal strength may be limited due to our rural location.

Please note: The property features steep stairs, so we ask guests to take care. While the property is only three miles from the A30, access is via narrow country lanes.

Perfect little place would definitely stay there again

Perfect little place would definitely stay there again. Good that dogs are not allowed in the bedroom/downstairs area. Outside is incredibly neat and inviting, but bear in mind the some of the lanes to get to it are very narrow. The cottage is very well equipped with utensils, Tupperware, clothes airer and pegs - everything seems brand new.

We were extremely happy with Rowella Cottage

We were extremely happy with Rowella Cottage. It is a lovely, clean house in a beautiful and peaceful setting and the hosts provided everything that we needed. Although the house is advertised as pet friendly, we were happy to see that dogs are not allowed in the bedroom. Highly recommended!

Excellent Stay at Rowella Cottage

Excellent Stay at Rowella Cottage. This location was a delightful retreat, immaculately clean, well-equipped, and full of charm. The peaceful location made it ideal for exploring Cornwall’s countryside and coast. The property was spotless, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with all essentials. We particularly enjoyed the log burner. Our only criticism would be the underpowered oven hob which wouldn’t even boil our pasta. The welcome gifts (food and wine) were much appreciated. This venue is highly recommended for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

I had a lovely weekend in Rowella Cottage.

The location is perfect for exploring around Cornwall and would be ideal for singles, couplestwo couples travelling together as the other cottage on site seems to be a similar setup. There is plenty of space for parking and open grass for pets. The grounds were so picturesque with the green hills and stone buildings. The cottage itself was full of charm and was well stocked with kitchen supplies for self catering and cups of teacoffee. I found the cottage very clean and tidy, and the bed comfortable. The host was very welcoming, making sure I had everything I needed shortly after my arrival. Highly recommended for a coastal/country getaway.
