Seaside Rest is a private, couples-only, luxury cottage directly above the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. Please enjoy reading over the listing description and reviews and Seaside Don will always be there with the Seaside Team to help answer any questions. There is a lot to say about this cottage!

When local people continually say, "This the best view on the island" you know you've found a winner! This is the 3rd and final cottage on this unique property. They are all set-up to have a decided focus on private enjoyment of a special environment. Families and friends can rent 2 or all 3, as availability allows. There are associated discounts for renting multiple cottages.

THE COTTAGE -
INSIDE - 1000ft2 of custom, open living space. The hardwood windows are screened and have louvres to let the trade winds blow through and keep things cool. Each of the main windows will have a unique Tiffany-style glass with air, land and sea elements of the island. (I've only had time to make the "sea" window but the others should be done soon enough!).

If you like to use AC instead then the cottage is equipped with an oversized unit that cools quickly. There are also 2 fans with lighting that hang from the vaulted ceiling. It is important to please think green and make sure all fans and AC is off when not in use.

The sleeping area is a 2x2 meter teak canopy bed with mosquito netting, extra pillows and silk throw blanket. It is a semi-posturepedic mattress with a quilted comforter on top. There are two louvre-only windows over each section so guests can choose their own level of breeze. The custom cabinetry has plenty of space for travel items and the area is accented with cultural collections from the owner's travels...Chinese vernacular antiques, Mongolian and Turkish textiles, Thai silks and Middle Eastern carpets.

The indoor lounging area is bordered by more antiques and art and is focused on a very comfortable couch in front of the trade winds. The couch can be turned into a sleeping bed for a 3rd guest.

The garden window area is centered on a 300-year old agricultural accounting table from Hunan province, China. While you don't have any rice to sell you may enjoy playing some cribbage, making a puzzle or work your way through a slow meal from our personal chef, Evelien.

The kitchen area is all custom-designed work with ice-making and water-dispensing fridge, 12-bottle wine cooler, granite counter tops, 5-burner stove top with over-sized oven below. All amenities are available including microwave, coffee maker, hand press for fruit juice, smoothie maker, blender, 4-piece toaster, panini machine...If you don't see it or have a special request then just let us know directly and, as possible, we'll get it ASAP. We very much like to do things that way. Don't forget to get in touch with one of our two private chefs to get on their schedules!

Between the kitchen and outdoor space is a double sided teak bar to keep the conversation, drinks and food flowing seamlessly.

The bathroom has granite and ceramic tiling, teak counters and a rain shower....BUT, most folks use the shower outside so let's go outside.

The tinted glass and hardwood cottage door opens a full 13+ feet to embrace the stunning views!

OUTSIDE - 1500+ square feet of magic. While looking at the sea the right half of the terrace takes advantage of long established native trees to provide habitat for bird (and, iguana) life as well as a large shaded area for lounging, cocktails and dining.

There is a vertical garden with local aloe, lilies and cactus. The 2 teak lounge beds complement the teak table and chairs in the main dining area. There are two teak high chairs to keep you at the bar with your Henry's Gin. That's Curacao's original and only native gin and it's off-the-charts...

As your eyes move to the left you will see the sunny side of the terrace. There is a walled garden area that keeps things private. This is also the area to work on your tan in private. Choose one of the loungers in front of the 3mx4m infinity edge pool (with a bench for sitting) or, maybe even better, enjoy the lower deck area directly above the cliff! . The day bed is simple and spectacular with views that knock socks off but you shouldn't be wearing any socks at this point. The bed is doubly comfortable at night for star gazing! Enjoy the private tiled dining area for coffee, dinner, drinks, reading or just gazing at a very unique, incredible view! Bonbini!

Don't forget to enjoy the gas grill!

The outdoor shower is right under one of the main trees between the shade and sunny areas of the terrace. Enjoy rinsing off there after a day at one of the many beaches in the area or after your sunset dip in the pool.

Between the shower and pool are stairs that take you down to the cliff-edged deck. This area has two more lounge chairs and a table with two chairs for morning coffee or your favorite sun-downers! There is much magic here. You can enjoy your private couples massages here as well as private chef service with Evelien. Spectacular!

Take your private stairs right into the sea! World class snorkeling to the left!

We basically live outside here and this particular recipe of "outside" is unmatched. The cottages comes with a starter bag of song-bird food and they really appreciate a handful at the feeding station. The larger pelicans, herons, flamingos, frigates and even, ospreys round out some incredible bird watching. Yes, the iguanas can also be fed at the lower feeding station. Our ancestors rock.

For swimmers, snorkelers and divers enjoy the video of the house reef. People come from all over the world to enjoy your backyard!

THE PROPERTY -

Seaside Rest is one of 3 unique, private and nature-focused cottages at the cliff's edge of Cas Abou. Private enjoyment of the unique environment is the priority at each. There is dedicated parking for each cottage with associated private stairs, gardens and entrances.

People have enjoyed renting 2 (even all 3 cottages) so that parents and adult couples can have their own spaces while enjoying a holiday together. All three cottages book very heavily so if you would like to enjoy that then please book at your earliest convenience. Discounts available for renting multiple cottages.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD and REGION-

Cas Abou is an exclusive neighborhood in the Banda Abou region of Curacao. Banda Abou is basically the area north/west of the capital and the airport. When you read/see/hear about the best beaches on the island and the deep Caribbean chill of Curacao...it's our dushi Banda Abou.

Cas Abou is centrally located within Banda Abou on the west coast and provides sunsets over the water 365-days a year. It is about 20-25 minutes to the airport, the UNESCO World Heritage capital, Willemsted, and the Westpunt village at the north/west end of the island. As an old plantation, Cas Abou is a large, four-square mile property that has the fantastic, global top-ten Cas Abou beach and our residential, gated neighborhood as it's main components. The historical plantation house is scheduled to be renovated...a slow and worthwhile process.

There is a large nature area between the main beach and neighborhood and another preserve borders the north/west edge of the area. It is decidedly focused on a natural, tranquil environment.

The main Cas Abou beach has a small entrance fee and is best reached by car or an exercise style, 20-minute walk. Everybody needs a car visiting the island so just put in your beach chairs and cooler and you're all set. From Seaside Rest you can also enjoy an excellent snorkel or swim to the Cas Abou beach. A nice mix is to walk there early in the AM and then enjoy an incredible snorkel or drift dive on the way back to the cottage.

Aside from the main beach there are also 2 smaller, natural, mostly coral beaches within Cas Abou. One of them borders the property and is just a 25-meter walk from the cottage door. I have built some stairs and a palapa to make the area really special for relaxing. It is one of the best snorkeling and diving spots on the island. While not private (the government owns all of the beaches) it is used mostly by guests of the cottages on the property. It's an incredible place on your own or to share a few beers with folks from around the world on their holiday!

The other neighborhood beach is just a short 100 meter walk down the street and is also an incredible snorkeling and diving area.

The Cas Abou neighborhood is gated, secure and peaceful. There are quiet hours from 10PM until 8AM.

***Please note that the 3 cottages on this property all enjoy quiet hours from sunset until 8AM. We respect chill time.

***Please enjoy reviewing the Seaside Curacao Information Package that goes out with all contracts. That's the owner generated (with guest input) guide for all things Banda Abou...including our unique Seaside Curacao services offered for your enjoyment. Massages, private chefs, guided land/sea excursions, fishing/sail charters... things that make an already special holiday, exceptional.

Bonbini na Korsow! Welcome to Curacao!

we've been to a lot of Caribbean properties but this was unique in it's ambiance. Our 45th anniversary turned into a 2nd honeymoon. There will be neighbors but not intrusive. Factor in a car rental expense but that's a good thing in Curacao-you are mid island away from the cruise crowd. The house had anything you can think of for food prep. Doing it again we'd stop at the big groceries in town & load up. Not impressed with some of the restaurants around except the King BBQ truck going into town.... KILLER good food cheap!

Absolute Beauty and Relaxation
This home is absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to sound like all the other reviews but as beautiful as the pictures are they simply don't do this place justice. My wife and I spent most of our honeymoon in Curacao at this wonderful beach front property. We spent our time snorkeling from the ocean access right on the property, laying out in the sun, and dipping into the pool when the sun got too hot. We absolutely loved watching the sunset over the ocean from the pool with a glass of wine, then waking up at dawn with an iced coffee and feeding the birds and iguanas on the lower deck. The only negative of our stay at Seaside Rest was as I said we spent "most" of our honeymoon on the island here. When planning I figured we'd stay here, which is about 30 minutes or so outside of Willemstad, then spend a couple days at a hotel in the city so we could explore the busier side of the island. My recommendation is don't do that. The city is plenty close where you can do a day trip or two and see everything there is to see, but you will always want to go back to Seaside it is just that special. Don and Angie are amazing hosts and though my wife and I have only been home a couple days, we absolutely can't wait to go back. If you are thinking about staying here, don't wait, just do it. I can guarantee you won't regret it!

Fabulous Getaway!
My husband and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. It was perfect! Don and Angie were wonderful hosts, the lodging was even better than the photos! It was much more spacious than we expected, and we enjoyed everything about it. Watching sunsets from the pool, feeding the birds and iguanas, snorkeling just off the property - this was the best snorkeling we experienced anywhere on the island! It was a fantastic, romantic, perfect week away for us, our first vacation without kids in over 24 years!

Absolute Paradise!
Hard to imagine a better place to stay for us on the island. Angie was available for any issues we had. The views are unparalleled and the layout of the cottage was perfect. We missed having the outdoor bed but everything else made up for it. It was very hot during our stay but a simple dip in the pool was all the air conditioning needed during the day. The iguanas soon became our friends and we enjoyed waking up and feeding them on the lower deck from the pool. Cut up melon and grapes and they were very happy. Keep an eye in the tree above the pool as they love to climb up and eat the blossoms and sometimes they slip. Super funny. The birds were magical. Trupials and Bananquit that we also fed daily. A small plate of fruit and some fresh squeezed juice and we had our little zoo working. Felt very much like home for us and easily the hardest to say goodbye to. You soon discover why Curacao is rated so highly for diving and snorkeling. So many pics and videos including a special experience with a turtle not at piskadoo. Got video of an octopus just as it shot passed me and then landed down and changed. Beautiful. The island is easily drivable and beaches were just as described. Locals were nice and matter of fact. The sunsets were our TV at night and the stars made it hard to turn in. Every detail inside the home was appreciated. The artwork etc let you know the passion that went into this home. Will be back as soon as humanly possible.

A piece of paradise in CuraƧao!
Pictures donā€™t do this place justice, this place is incredible! Nestled right on the cliff overlooking the ocean, you cannot get a better view than this! Don and Angie weā€™re communicative both before and during our stay which helped so much with planning and helped us feel at ease and taken care of during our stay. When we booked the listing showed an outdoor bed which was changed to lounge chairs when we stayed, but the chairs were very comfortable and were perfect for watching the sunset and for stargazing. We spent a LOT more time at the property than we initially thought we would because it was the perfect home away from home for relaxing, cooking meals, and hanging out with the resident iguanas. We also snorkeled 3 days of our stay with beautiful coral just right off the beach at the side of the property. Cas Pas absolutely made our 6th wedding anniversary trip incredible, and if we are able to come back to CuraƧao we will be staying again!

Peaceful relaxation
Cas Pas is a wonderful place for peace and tranquillity. The cottage was everything Seaside Don described and extremely private even though it is in the middle of three cottages. Everything you will need to enjoy yourself is in the cottage. Waking up & going to sleep with ocean views is heaven. The blue waters are soothing to the soul. We enjoyed our mornings with the iguanas & bananaquit birds. Cooling off in the pool any time of the day is refreshing. We enjoyed adventuring out in the Banda Abou region and discovering all the little beaches. The best is just nextdoor at Cas Abou beach. We had shakes from the stand just south of Tera Cora a few times. The people are wonderful. We ate at VIP Grill food truck a couple of times. Taking in the little museums is a must to get to know some of the rich history of the island. Go to Christoffel Mountain-go early as Don says. Bring lots of water and refreshing snacks on the hike with you. And have more in the provided cooler in the car. Go to Shete Boca park on the eastern side and see the crashing waves along the cliffs. Go to Playa Forti and watch ( or join in) the cliff diving. Eat at the little restaurants. We thoroughly loved our stay at Cas Pas cottage and plan on returning. Thank you Don & Angie.

Waking up to the sound of the waves and hearing the beautiful song birds was a wonderful way to start the day. No matter what time of the day the views were amazing and watching the sunsets was equally beautiful from the lower deck. The pool was wonderful for a quick cool off. Great location to explore the North/West end of the island. The Cas Abou community small private beach was a bonus to be able to go for a swim and snorkel with an abundance of beautiful fish. Thank you Don and Angie, in the future we hope to be able to return!
