This property is located in an older building, and that was noticeable upon arrival. The lockbox setup was also confusing — there are many lockboxes clustered together, which makes it difficult to quickly identify the correct one. It took several minutes to find the right box.Because of the building’s exterior condition, I decided to check the unit before bringing in my elderly mother or our belongings. When I entered, I was met with a strong “old” smell. The unit wasn’t dirty, but the bedding, furniture, and overall décor were noticeably worn and outdated. After looking around for a few minutes, I returned the key and fob to the lockbox and notified the host that I would not be staying, as the property did not meet my expectations based on the listing photos and description.I was in town for a funeral and already under emotional strain, so I knew my family and I wouldn’t feel comfortable staying in this environment.I do want to note that the host was extremely kind and compassionate. They reached out during my travels, expressed condolences for my loss, and even said they left a bottle of wine for my family. Wonderful host, unfortunately, the property itself just wasn’t a good fit.
