The main bath is centrally located near all of the bedrooms and the 1/2 bath is a walk thru between the master bedroom and the kitchen area. With a combination of large windows and closeness to the river you can actually see trout and salmon swimming from the living room. There is a small footbridge across the river that leads to over 100 acres of wooded state land that is yours to explore. Imagine yourself lounging on the covered porch or in the screened room taking in the sights and sounds of the river. For the more adventurous the upper Platte is an exciting challenge to those who choose to canoe, kayak or tube the river. From here your just a short drive to the many of the best vacation experiences Northwest Michigan has to offer. Within 15 minutes you can be at the Sleeping Bear Lakeshore, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Crystal Mountain or one of the last drive in theaters in Michigan. The property is beautiful and secluded. I stayed with my mother who is in her seventies and cannot walk well. The highlight of this property is the river on three sides, which makes it feel very secluded and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the kayakers come by in the morning and their varying ability to navigate the bend. The pictures online are very representative of the property. Is it dated, yes, but you know that already. My only two complaints are that we had a lot of problems with bugs in the house at night. There are holes in multiple screen that should be repaired or replaced. There is one window air conditioning unit in the living room, but it was temperate enough that we wanted the windows open. My other complaint is that the kitchen could be more organized. It was stocked with mismatched random pots, pans, measuring cups, etc. We could not find a liquid measuring cup and the three dry measuring cups we found were all in different drawers. The beautiful and serene flowing river was well worth the float with our kayaks. The spacious yard for the dogs and people to play catch/frisbee, and the comfy seating on the covered porch were all utilized. Even with the warm July temperatures, the window air conditioning unit in the living room did the trick and kept most of the house cool. We slept well in the 4 separate spaces. The kitchen was well stocked. Great location for day trips to the beach and Sleeping Bear Dunes. There were a few house bugs, but we understand country living.
